Motorsport News is a British weekly newspaper offering news, reports and analysis of circuit racing, rallying and other forms of motor sport. Its offices are in Richmond in Middlesex.
It was first published in 1955 as Motoring News, a monthly publication aimed at domestic car owners, but was bought in 1957 by Teesdale Publications, the publishers of Motor Sport . Motoring News was relaunched as a weekly newspaper focused on motorsport at all levels, from amateur hill-climbs and autotests to Formula One and world rallying. [2] [3] [4] [5]
Following the death of its owner, Wesley J. Tee, [6] Teesdale Publications was sold in 1996 to Haymarket Publishing. [7] In 2000 Haymarket rebranded Motoring News as Motorsport News.
In 2016 the publication was sold along with other titles in Haymarket's motoring portfolio to Miami-based Motorsport Network to form Autosport Media UK Ltd. [8]
In January 2020 Motorsport News was acquired by Kelsey Media, who publish several other motoring and specialist magazines. [9]
Amongst the notable motorsport journalists to work for the publication are Alan Henry [10] [11] and David Tremayne. [12] Its first editor was Cyril Posthumus.
Motoring News initiated and sponsored a very successful national rally championship from 1961 to 1987. [13] [14]
Motorsport News has been the title sponsor of a rally championship at UK racing circuits since 2015. [15] [16]

Mika Pauli Häkkinen, nicknamed "The Flying Finn", is a Finnish former racing driver. He was the 1998 and 1999 Formula One World Champion, driving for McLaren. He is one of three Formula One drivers from Finland to win the World Championship, and is the only Finnish driver to win it more than once. Goodwood Circuit is a historic venue for both two- and four-wheeled motorsport in the United Kingdom. The 2.367-mile (3.809 km) circuit is situated near Chichester, West Sussex, close to the south coast of England, on the estate of Goodwood House, and completely encircles Chichester/Goodwood Airport. This is the racing circuit dating from 1948, not to be confused with the separate hillclimb course located at Goodwood House and first used in 1936.

David Marshall Coulthard is a British former racing driver from Scotland, later turned presenter, commentator and journalist. William Boddy, was a British journalist who was the editor of Motor Sport from 1936 to 1991. After 1991 he still contributed regularly to Motor Sport magazine, continuing a career that lasted eighty-one years. He also co-founded the Vintage Sports Car Club, and founded the Brooklands Society in 1967 among numerous contributions to the emerging vintage car scene. At his death he was considered the longest-serving journalist in the UK, having submitted his first article in 1930 and his last one just a week before his death.

Martin Whitaker is a British businessman who is best known for his involvement within motorsport. Born into a farming family, Whitaker started a career in journalism before working in press relations. He subsequently joined Ford, working within major areas of motorsport, before leaving in 2003. In 2004, Whitaker was appointed CEO of the Bahrain International Circuit and worked as CEO of the Australian V8 Supercars series from 2010.
The 2016 FIA Formula One World Championship was the 70th season of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA)'s Formula One motor racing. It featured the 67th Formula One World Championship, a motor racing championship for Formula One cars which is recognised by the sport's governing body, the FIA, as the highest class of competition for open-wheel racing cars. Teams and drivers took part in twenty-one Grands Prix—making for the longest season in the sport's history—starting in Australia on 20 March and finishing in Abu Dhabi on 27 November as they competed for the World Drivers' and World Constructors' championships.
Margaret Mabel Gladys Jennings was a Scottish motor racing driver. As Margaret Allan she was one of the leading British female racing and rally drivers in the inter-war years, and one of only four women ever to earn a 120 mph badge at the Brooklands circuit. During the war, Jennings worked as an ambulance driver and then at Bletchley Park's intelligence de-coding centre, and afterwards became a journalist and was Vogue magazine's motoring correspondent from 1948 to 1957.
