Motupalli is a village in Chinaganjam Mandal, Prakasam District in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. [1] It is located 10 km away from Chinaganjam town. It is the site of a historic port city, one of the most ancient in India, [2] dating back to at least the 2nd century CE. [3] Motupalli served as a major trading hub for the region, [4] connecting it with other parts of India, as well as with Southeast Asia, China, and the Middle East. [5] Motupalli is home to a number of important religious and cultural sites. These include the Veerabhadra Swamy Temple, the Ramalingeswara Swamy Temple, and the Buddhist stupas. The village is also known for its traditional arts and crafts, such as weaving, pottery, and metalwork. [6]
Motupalli has been ruled by various dynasties over the centuries, including the Imperial Cholas, the Kakatiyas, the Reddys, the Emperors of Vijayanagara and the Qutub Shahis. The village is mentioned as bustling port in several historical texts, including the writings of Ptolemy, Pliny and Marco Polo. [7] In the 12th century, [8] Motupalli was a major center of trade for horses, and it is said that the Kakatiya king Ganapati Deva imported Arabian horses through this port.[ citation needed ]. It served as the primary port of the Kakatiya realm with Marco Polo referring to the Kakatiya state as the Kingdom of Motupalli.

Ramappa Temple, also known as the Rudreshwara temple, is a Kakatiya style Hindu temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, located in Palampet village, Mulugu district, Telangana, India. It is 15 km (9.3 mi) from Mulugu, 66 km (41 mi) from Warangal, 209 km (130 mi) from Hyderabad. An inscription in the temple says it was constructed in the year 1213 CE by Recharla Rudra Reddy—a general of Kakatiya ruler Ganapati Deva. Located in the vicinity of Ramappa Lake, the Ramappa Temple complex which consist of three temples was constructed between 1212 and 1234, designed and architect by Ramappa—after whom the temple complex is named. Marco Polo, during his visit to the Kakatiya empire, supposedly called the temple "the brightest star in the galaxy of temples". In July 2021, Ramappa Temple was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Kondaveedu Fort is a historically significant ancient hill fortress located in Kondaveedu, a village in the Chilakaluripet constituency of Palnadu district, Andhra Pradesh, India. The site is located 16 miles west of the city of Guntur. Apart from this main fort, there are two other forts nearby. Efforts are in progress to classify Kondaveedu Fort as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Nelakondapally, also referred to as Nelakondapalli or Nela Kondapalli, is a town and headquarters of a mandal in Khammam district, Telangana, India. It is also an archaeological site important to early Buddhism and Hinduism, where excavations have discovered a major stupa site near an ancient manmade lake, another site where Buddhist and Hindu artwork were carved in pre-3rd century India, both sites also yielding hundreds of ancient rare coins with Shaiva and Vaishnava inscriptions from the dynasties of Andhra Ikshvakus and Vishnukundinas.
