Sub Pop is a record label founded in 1986 by Bruce Pavitt and Jonathan Poneman. Sub Pop achieved fame in the early 1990s for signing Seattle bands such as Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Mudhoney, central players in the grunge movement. They are often credited with helping popularize grunge music. The label's roster includes Fleet Foxes, Beach House, The Postal Service, Sleater-Kinney, Flight of the Conchords, Foals, Blitzen Trapper, Father John Misty, clipping., Shabazz Palaces, Bully, METZ, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, TV Priest and The Shins. In 1995, the owners of Sub Pop sold a 49% stake of the label to the Warner Music Group. In March of 2021, Bruce Pavitt was hired by Grunge Pop Records as an A&R consultant and label advisor.
98 Degrees is an American pop and R&B vocal group consisting of four vocalists: the group's founding member Jeff Timmons, brothers Nick and Drew Lachey, and Justin Jeffre. The group was formed by Timmons in Los Angeles, California, although all of its members originate from Ohio.
"Thank God I Found You" is a song by American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey, featuring guest vocals from R&B singer Joe and American boy band 98 Degrees. It was released on November 15, 1999, through Columbia Records, as the second single from her seventh studio album, Rainbow (1999). Written and produced by Carey alongside Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, the song is a pop power ballad with lyrics depicting a powerful love relationship in which the protagonist tells her lover "thank God I found you", that was inspired by a relationship Carey was going through at the time.
The Singles 86>98 is a compilation album by English electronic music band Depeche Mode. It was released on 28 September 1998 by Mute Records. It serves as a follow-up to the band's previous compilation, The Singles 81→85, which was also reissued in the same year. The compilation covers the band's seven-inch single releases spanning five studio albums, while including the new song "Only When I Lose Myself". It also includes "Little 15" and the live version of "Everything Counts", which was released as a single in 1989. All tracks on The Singles 86>98 were newly remastered, as was the case with the re-release of The Singles 81→85.

"Car Wash", the theme of the 1976 film of the same name, was Rose Royce's most successful single and the lead single from their debut studio album, the Car Wash soundtrack. The song was later covered in 2004 by Christina Aguilera and Missy Elliott, who released their version as the single for the Shark Tale soundtrack.
"Respect" is a song written and originally recorded by American soul singer Otis Redding. It was released in 1965 as a single from his third album Otis Blue/Otis Redding Sings Soul and became a crossover hit for Redding.
"Rigor Mortis" is a song by the funk band Cameo, released on April 20, 1977 in their debut album Cardiac Arrest. In the US, the song peaked at #33 on the Hot Soul Singles chart. In this instance "Rigor Mortis" is a euphemism for being lonesome on the dance floor.

It was also released as a single where it peaked at number eight on the Hot Soul Singles chart "Shake Your Pants" has since been re-released on many of the band's greatest hits albums, including one named after the song.

98 Degrees and Rising is the second album released by American boy band 98 Degrees. It was recorded at Blue Wave Studios in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and released by Motown on October 20, 1998. The album features the singles "Because of You" and "The Hardest Thing", which peaked at No. 3 and No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 respectively. The album also features two covers, Mark Wills' "I Do " and "She's Out of My Life", made famous by Michael Jackson. It also features a duet with label mate Stevie Wonder, "True to Your Heart", which was featured on the soundtrack of the 1998 Disney film Mulan, as well as the song "Fly with Me", which was featured on the soundtrack album for the 1999 film Pokémon: The First Movie. The album has sold over four million copies in the United States alone, becoming the band's best-selling album. This was also the band's last album on Motown before they left for Motown's parent company, Universal Records.
