Scarface is a 1983 American epic crime drama film directed by Brian De Palma and written by Oliver Stone. Loosely based on the 1930 novel of the same name and serving as a loose remake of the 1932 film, it tells the story of Cuban refugee Tony Montana, who arrives penniless in Miami during the Mariel boatlift and becomes a powerful drug lord. The film co-stars Steven Bauer, Michelle Pfeiffer, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio and Robert Loggia. De Palma dedicated this version of Scarface to the memories of Howard Hawks and Ben Hecht, the writers of the original film.

"Hand of the Dead Body" is the second single from Scarface's third album, The Diary. It featured a verse from Ice Cube and a chorus from Devin the Dude and was produced by N.O. Joe Scarface and Co. Producer Mike Dean. "Hand of the Dead Body" found some success, making it to three Billboard charts, finding the most success on the rap charts where it peaked at 9. The song's lyrics is centered on the government, the media and music critics who are quick to attack gangsta rap for violence on the streets. A music video featuring Scarface and Ice Cube rapping in a conference was also released.
"I Seen a Man Die", also known as "I Never Seen a Man Cry", is the first single released from Scarface's third album, The Diary. Produced by N.O. Joe, Mike Dean and Scarface himself, "I Seen a Man Die" became a top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, the first of two that Scarface had in his career. It peaked at 37 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song is a tale of a young male released from prison after seven years looking for a better life only to get caught up on the crime side again and robbed by his enemies. He dies in the hospital, regretful of his life decisions. The song also has a music video released that mirrors Scarface's lyrics.
"Smile" is the lead single released from Scarface's fourth album, The Untouchable. The song features 2Pac and R&B singer, Johnny P. "Smile" is a remix of the 2Pac song "Smile For Me Now", which was produced by 2Pac and Damon Thomas and was released prior on the Death Row Records compilation album, Death Row Greatest Hits. "Smile" was produced by Scarface, Mike Dean and Tone Capone. The song became Scarface's most successful single to date, making it to number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100.
