Muang Phiang is a town in Sainyabuli Province, Laos. It is located along the main road (Route 4, southwest of Sainyabuli. The area surrounding it is mainly paddy fields. [1]

The Thai–Laotian Border War was a short confrontation between Thai and Laotian forces. It involved a dispute over the map made by French surveyors in 1907 to mark the borders between Siam and French Indochina in the southern Luang Prabang Range. Ownership of the village of Ban Romklao on the border of Phitsanulok Province and three small border villages on the edge of Uttaradit Province was left unclear. This is the same map underlying the Cambodian–Thai border dispute. The agreed criterion for determining ownership was the natural watershed, but the French map makers at times ignored this.

Luang Prabang Range mountain range in Laos and Thailand

The Luang Prabang Range, named after Luang Prabang, is a mountain range straddling northwestern Laos and Northern Thailand. Most of the range is located in Sainyabuli Province (Laos), as well as Nan and Uttaradit Provinces (Thailand), with small parts in Phitsanulok and Loei Provinces. Several rivers such as the Nan, Pua and Wa river, have their source in this range. Phu Fa waterfall, the biggest and the tallest waterfall in Nan Province, is also located in these mountains. This range is part of the Luang Prabang montane rain forests ecoregion.

Pak Lay is a town in Sainyabuli Province, in the west of Laos. It is built around a sandy road, so people can get there by bus from Vientiane or Sainyabuli. It is popular for tourists because there are opportunities of free walking through the rainforest or riding on elephants.

Ban Nakhem is a village in Sainyabuli Province, Laos. It is located along the main road (Route 4, south of Muang Phiang and southwest of Sainyabuli. The area and surrounding villages of Ban Fainamtan and Ban Nampoui are mainly engaged in agriculture, mainly rice farming.

It shares borders with Thailand in the south, Paklai district in the north, Boten district in the west and Xanakham district in the east. Kenthao district is the gateway for the import of goods from Thailand to some of the northern provinces like Luang Prabang. It is also an export port for domestic agricultural products such as maize, peanuts, sesame, rice, casava and many other seasonal crops.
