Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Nazrul Islam BSP, nswc, afwc, psc, GD(P), (Retd) is a businessman and retired Bangladesh Air Force officer. During his four decades in the military, he led a Bangladesh peacekeeping contingent in the Democratic Republic of Congo, commanded two air bases in Bangladesh, and was vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University (BSMRAAU).

Biography

Islam was commissioned in the general duties (pilot) branch of the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) in 1986. He completed master's degrees in military disciplines from four institutions: National University, Bangladesh; University of Madras; National Defence University, Pakistan; and Bangladesh University of Professionals. [1]

He served a stint as commander of the Bangladesh Air Force contingent in the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO). [1] In 2019, he commanded BAF Base Birsreshto Matiur Rahman in Jessore. [2] [3] He later commanded BAF Base Bashar in Dhaka. [1] [4] During the COVID-19 pandemic, while educational institutions were closed, he temporarily converted BAF Shaheen College Kurmitola into an isolation and treatment center. [5]

In July 2021, he was appointed vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University (BSMRAAU) for a two-year term. [6] During his time as VC, BSMRAAU transitioned to its permanent campus in Lalmonirhat. [7]

After retiring from the BAF, he became managing director of BDCOM Online Ltd., an internet service provider. [5]

Khondaker Mostaq Ahmad was a Bangladeshi politician. He was the fourth president of Bangladesh from 15 August to 6 November 1975, after the assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He was involved in the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 15 August 1975. He took on the role of president immediately after the assassination, praised the assassins as "sons of the sun" and put cabinet ministers loyal to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in jail.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University is a public university in Bangladesh. It is funded by the government and is Bangladesh's first higher education institution on aerospace engineering. Its campus is in Lalmonirhat. The first student admission program began in January 2020.

Air Vice Marshal ASM Fakhrul Islam, OSP, GUP, ndc, afwc, psc, GD (P) is a Bangladesh Air Force officer and Senior Directing Staff (Air) at National Defense College, Mirpur. Prior to this position, he was Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University. Before that, he was Commandant of Bangabandhu Aeronautical Centre. He also served as Air Officer Commanding(AOC) at BAF Base Zahurul Haque, Patenga, Chattogram.

Mohammad Mahfuzul Islam is a Bangladeshi academic and vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University. He is the former vice-chancellor of the Canadian University of Bangladesh. He is a former President of the Bangladesh Computer Society. He is a Computer Science and Engineering professor at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.

Mohammad Khaled Iqbal is a retired rear admiral of the Bangladesh Navy and former vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University. He is the former chairman of Chittagong Port Authority.

Md. Giashuddin Miah is a Bangladeshi academic and vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University.

Air Vice Marshal A K M Manirul Bahar BSP, ndc, hdmc, afwc, psc, ADWC is a Bangladesh Air Force officer and incumbent Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University. Prior to join here, he served as Air Officer Commanding(AOC) of Bangladesh Air Force Base Cox's Bazar. He served as director of air force headquarters, directorate of air defence.
