Mukund Purohit is an Indo-Canadian entrepreneur. He is chairman and managing director of Neapolitan Pizza Limited. [1]
He was President of the Gujarati Business Association Canada (GBA) 2003 to 2007. He worked as an advisor/consultant to the Ministry of Economy for the Government of Saskatchewan from 2011 to 2014, and as advisor/consultant to the Government of New Brunswick in 2014.
Purohit works towards developing bilateral relationship between India and Canada. He was the person because of whom the Canadian business delegation of Canadian politicians went to Gujarat for the first time and attended the Vibrant Gujarat Investor's summit beginning in 2009.
Purohit is the Director of Vcare Project Management Consultant Inc. (Canada). He is the Director of Panorama India, [2] a non-profit umbrella organization working to unite Indo-Canadian cultural associations and groups.
He is a member of the Indo Canadian Business Chamber, Gujarat Council (India) and Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce (Canada). He is an Executive Fellow of the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada and Vice President of My Home India. He is Co Chair of the Canada India Foundation, [3] and International Commissioner of Hindustan Scouts and Guides.
Purohit is recipient of the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman from Pranab Mukherjee, then president of India. [4]
The Government of Canada recognized Purohit's services by awarding him with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal 2012. [5] [6] He received the Canada India Foundation's 2010 Gauravanto Gujarati Award, and Canada-India Friendship Medal from the House of Commons and Canada-India Parliamentary Friendship Group's 2012.
He was a producer of the Bollywood movie Zed Plus . Purohit is a social activist who raises funds for Kanya Kelvin Yojana, [7] a literacy campaign for young girls deprived of basic education in Gujarat and other charities.

Vadodara, also known as Baroda, is a major city in the Indian state of Gujarat. It serves as the administrative headquarters of the Vadodara district and is situated on the banks of the Vishwamitri River, 141 km (88 mi) from the state capital of Gandhinagar. The railway line and National Highway 8, which connect Delhi with Mumbai, pass through Vadodara. The city is named for its abundance of banyan (vad) trees. Vadodara is also locally referred to as the Sanskari Nagari and Kala Nagari of India.
Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, formerly Baroda College, is a public university in the city of Vadodara, Gujarat, India. Originally established as a college in 1881, it became a university in 1949 after India's independence. It was later renamed after its benefactor Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III, the former ruler of Baroda State.
Kanhaiyalal Maneklal Munshi, popularly known by his pen name Ghanshyam Vyas, was an Indian independence movement activist, politician, writer from Gujarat state. A lawyer by profession, he later turned to author and politician. He is a well-known name in Gujarati literature. He founded Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, an educational trust, in 1938.
Ghulam Mohammed Sheikh is a painter, poet and art critic from Gujarat, India. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1983 and Padmabhushan in 2014 for his contribution in field of art.
Sayajirao Gaekwad III was the Maharaja of Baroda State from 1875 to 1939, and is remembered for reforming much of his state during his rule. He belonged to the royal Gaekwad dynasty of the Marathas which ruled parts of present-day Gujarat.
Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is a celebratory day observed on 9 January by the Republic of India to mark the contribution of the Overseas Indian community towards the development of India. The day commemorates the return of Mahatma Gandhi from South Africa to Mumbai on 9 January 1915.
The Nyay Mandir, lit. 'Temple of Justice', is a court building in Vadodara in the state of Gujarat, western India.
Nazarbaug Palace or Nazar Bāgh Palace was the Gaekwad's royal palace in the city of Vadodara, Gujarat state, western India. The Nazar Bāgh Palace' was built in 1721. It had three storeys and is the oldest palace in Baroda. It was constructed by Malhār Rāo Gaekwad in the late 19th century. This palace was used on ceremonial occasions by the Gaekwads. Till recently, it housed the royal family heirlooms. It had solid gold and silver guns, each barrel weighing over 100 kg. The grounds also contain the Shïsh Mahal, a Palace of Glass.
Dave Sukhdip Singh Hayer is a former Indo-Canadian politician for the province of British Columbia. He served as member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Surrey-Tynehead from 2001 to 2013. Hayer is the son of assassinated journalist Tara Singh Hayer.
Lata Pada, CM is an Indian-born Canadian choreographer and Bharatanatyam dancer. Pada is the founder and artistic director of Sampradaya Dance Creations, a dance company that performs South Asian dance. She is also the founder and director of Sampradaya Dance Academy, a leading professional dance training institution that is the only South Asian dance school in North America affiliated with the prestigious, UK-based Imperial Society for Teachers of Dancing. Pada founded the dance company in 1990; Pada said that she founded the company because she wanted to showcase Bharatantyam dance as an art form throughout the world. Pada is known as an influential figure in South Asian-style dance in Canada.
Vasu Chanchlani was an Indian-Canadian serial entrepreneur, philanthropist and trans-nations builder. He is co-founder of the Sigma Group of Companies and a founding member of the Canada India Foundation. He is also an investor in dozens of companies globally consisting of start-ups and turn-arounds. Rajni Kanabar was an M.B.B.S. doctor and philanthropist belonging to the third generation of an Indian-origin family in Tanzania. He was the founder-chairman of Regency Medical Centre in Dar es Salaam, and the initiator-convenor of the Tanzania Heart Babies Project, which he established in the year 1979. Born in Mwanza, he was presented with the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award as a person of Indian origin, from the Government of India in 2010, for facilitating the surgeries of children in Tanzania suffering from congenital heart diseases. He also received the PBS Award Label from the High Commission of India in Tanzania in 2013, and the Order of the United Republic of Tanzania Medal in 2014.
Ashit Desai is an Indian composer, vocalist, musician and music director. He composes scores for films, TV serials, dance productions and dramas. He is known as Gujarati Sugam Sangeet artist.
Pandit Shivkumar Shukla was an Indian classical vocalist of the Bhendibazaar gharana. A recipient of the 1992 Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, he was known for his works in Khayal form of Hindustani classical music. He was a disciple of Indian classical vocalist and composer Ustad Aman Ali Khan. Shukla was known as "Sangeet Rasraj", a title which was given to him by Pandit Omkarnath Thakur.
