Mulla Abdullabhai Taherali [2] also known as Mulla Taherali Mulla Abdullabhai (born 9 December 1918,date of death unknown) was an Indian politician and the Member of Parliament (MP) of the first Lok Sabha in 1952 elected from Chanda constituency of Madhya Pradesh. [1] [3] [4]
Abdullabhai was educated at Anjuman High School in Nagpur. Besides serving as the Member of Parliament,Mulla was also a businessman. From 1946 to 1951,he served as the chairman of Legislative Assembly and from 1951 to 1952,he remained Vice President of the Nagpur Nagar Congress Committee,which was led by the Indian National Congress. Mulla Abdullabhai Taherali was married at a young age of 20 to Shrimati Sugrabai on 20 April 1938. [1]
The Nikhil Utkal Adivasi Congress was a tribal political movemenent in the Indian state of Orissa. It was launched on the initiative leaders of the Indian National Congress in Orissa,who wanted to counter-mobilize against the territorial claims of the Jharkhand Party on the Orissa tribal belt. The organization was founded by Lal Ranjit Singh Bariha in late 1950. Bariha,Tribal Welfare Minister in the pre-1952 Orissa state government,was accompanied by other ministers in building the organization in the Orissa tribal belt. The Abibasi Mahasabha led by Sonaram Soren merged into the Nikhil Utkal Adivasi Congress. In 1951 the Nikhil Utkal Adivasi Congress was able to counter the Jharkhand movement in Orissa,leading to the marginalization of the latter in Orissa politics. In September 1951 Sonaram Soren was named Acting President of Nikhil Utkal Adivasi Congress.
The First Lok Sabha was constituted on 17 April 1952 after India's first general election. The 1st Lok Sabha lasted its full tenure of five years and was dissolved on 4 April 1957. The First Session of this Lok Sabha commenced on 13 May 1952.
