Munro Price is a British historian noted for his award-winning work on French history.
Price was born (February 1963) in London to playwright and author Stanley Price and his wife Judy ( née Fenton) and raised in Highgate.
Price was educated at University College School and Cambridge University,where he gained a First Class Degree in History before going on to study for his PhD under the supervision of T. C. W. Blanning.
Price was active in politics while at Cambridge,becoming president of Cambridge University Social Democrats, [1] the university's SDP society.
For much of his academic career Price has been based at the University of Bradford,where he is currently professor of Modern European History and director of MA Programme in the Department of Peace Studies. [2] He has also taught at the University of Swansea and the University of Lyon.
Known for his writings on French history from the time of the French Revolution through to Louis Philippe,Price has published several books and articles on the period,including The Fall of the French Monarchy:Louis XVI,Marie Antoinette and the baron de Breteuil (2002),winner of the Franco-British Society's Enid McLeod Literary Prize,and Napoleon:the End of Glory (2015) which has since been translated into German.
Price has also co-authored The Road to Apocalypse:The Extraordinary Journey of Lewis Way with his father,Stanley Price,focussing on the origins of the Evangelical Christian Zionist movement in early 19th century Britain and Europe.
Contributing towards television programmes focussed on his area of expertise,Price has appeared in several documentaries in English and French language. [3] [ better source needed ]
Marie Antoinette Josèphe Jeanne was the last queen of France before the French Revolution. She was born an Archduchess of Austria,and was the penultimate child and youngest daughter of Empress Maria Theresa and Emperor Francis I. She became dauphine of France in May 1770 at age 14 upon her marriage to Louis-Auguste,heir apparent to the French throne. On 10 May 1774,her husband ascended the throne as Louis XVI and she became queen.

Étienne François,Marquis de Stainville,Duc de Choiseul,KOHS,OGF was a French military officer,diplomat and statesman. From 1758 to 1761 and from 1766 to 1770,he was Foreign Minister of France and had a strong influence on France's global strategy throughout the period. The royal Flight to Varennes during the night of 20–21 June 1791 was a significant event in the French Revolution in which King Louis XVI of France,Queen Marie Antoinette,and their immediate family unsuccessfully attempted to escape from Paris in order to initiate a counter-revolution at the head of loyal troops under royalist officers concentrated at Montmédy near the frontier. They escaped only as far as the small town of Varennes-en-Argonne,where they were arrested after having been recognized at their previous stop in Sainte-Menehould.

Paul François de Quelen de La Vauguyon or Paul François de Quélen de Stuer de Caussade,duc de La Vauguyon was a French nobleman. He was governor of Cognac,after having been involved in the last campaigns of the Seven Years' War. He wrote a Portrait de feu monseigneur le Dauphin and was menin to the future Louis XVI,one of the Dauphin's sons. A peer of France,brigadier,maréchal de camp,knight of the ordre du Saint-Esprit,he was chosen to be minister plenipotentiary to the Estates General of the Dutch Republic. He later became French ambassador to Spain,knight of the Golden Fleece,temporary minister of foreign affairs in 1789,then minister of the conseil d'État of Louis XVIII in Verona. He was the main intermediary among Louis's agents in France,but became the victim of intrigues. From the Restoration onwards he was lieutenant général and sat in the peerage of France,where he was noted for his moderation. He and his wife had four children,but the Quelen line died out with his children.

Jean Charles Pierre Lenoir was a French lawyer who headed the Paris police in the period immediately before the French Revolution of 1789–99. He had broad responsibility for maintaining public order,reducing dirt and disease and ensuring that the population received adequate supplies of food. He introduced many reforms into the administration of the city.
