Muon is a post-rock and electronica band from Singapore that originally began in 1999 as a solo project by founding member, Nick Chan. The band is influenced by genres such as IDM, ambient, trip hop and drum and bass, and artists such as DJ Shadow, Aphex Twin and The Cinematic Orchestra.

Contents

Nick released two albums on his own, 'The Death of Cinema' (2003) and 'In Flught' (2004) before recruiting drummer Edwin Leong in 2005. Muon's latest formation now comprises Nick together with Jordan Chia, Adam Shah and Ren Wong.

The band has performed extensively at gigs and festivals including venues Zouk and 3some in Bangkok, Baybeats Festival at The Esplanade, Enroute Festival, Dual City Sessions, PlusMinusTen, [1] Syndicate Subsessions, [2] Musicity Singapore [3] [4] and Fred Perry 60th Anniversary. [5] [6]

Muon recently released its critically acclaimed fourth studio album, 'The Shape of Shapes to Come' (2012) on its bandcamp.

Beyond was a Hong Kong rock band formed in 1983. The band became prominent in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Mainland China, and Overseas Chinese communities. The band is widely considered as the most successful and influential Cantopop band from Hong Kong. In 1993, leader Wong Ka Kui, died at the age of 31 after an accident during the filming of a show at Fuji Television in Tokyo. Beyond continued to perform and record after Wong Ka Kui's death. In 2005, the remaining members Paul Wong, Wong Ka Keung and Yip Sai Wing decided to pursue their own solo careers, and Beyond officially disbanded.

Home (家), sung by Kit Chan, was composed by Dick Lee in 1998 as the first in a series of yearly songs commissioned for Singapore's National Day Parade, together with the other NDP song that year titled as City For The World. It has English and Chinese versions, both sung by Kit.

Public radio broadcasting began in Singapore in April 1925, after the Amateur Wireless Society of Malaya obtained a temporary license to broadcast. Radio Singapura was established as the first local mass market radio service in 1959. Subsequently, on February 15, 1963, before the withdrawal of the British Armed Forces, and after the merger with Malaya, Singapore's first television service began as Televisyen Singapura under its owner, Radio Television Singapore (RTS).

Lunarin is a 3-piece alternative rock band hailing from Singapore. Consisting of Linda Ong (Bass/Vocals), Ho Kah Wye (Guitars) and Loo Eng Teck (Drums/Vocals), the trio were friends since 1993. They started a 4-piece band called Fuzzbox in 1995 before exploring a darker progressive sound as Lunarin in 2003.

Tatsu Aoki is a multi-instrumentalist trained in traditional Japanese music, educator and experimental filmmaker. In his career as Chicago's Jazz and creative improvisor, he is mostly known as a long-standing bassist for Fred Anderson and he has also worked with George Freeman, and Von Freeman in the 90s. Aoki also has curious recording projects with Malachi Favors, Roscoe Mitchell, Don Moye, Wu Man, and other internationally renowned artists. Aoki also directs cultural events that promote the history of Japanese artistic traditions and contemporary Asian influences in jazz. The Observatory is an art rock, experimental and electronica band based in Singapore, consisting primarily of members from 1990s Singaporean bands. The band formed in 2001 and performed for the first time at the Baybeats music festival in December 2002. They have released eight albums: Time of Rebirth (2004), Blank Walls (2005), A Far Cry From Here (2007), Dark Folke (2009), Catacombs (2012), Oscilla (2014), Continuum (2015) and August is the Cruellest (2016). The band has performed in Norway, Italy, Japan, France, Germany and Singapore, and headlined regional music events in Malaysia and Thailand and Korea, such as MTV's Pattaya Music Festival, Heineken Fat Festival Bangkok, St Jerome's Laneway Festival and the Seoul Fringe Festival.

Trisno Ishak, known professionally as Trisno, is a singer and teacher from Singapore. In 2000, he was the lead singer of Urban Xchange, which evolved to Parking Lot Pimp. He has performed alongside Stacy Orrico, Jamie Cullum, Jay Sean, Missy Higgins and Ben and Joey of The Click Five. He collaborated with John Lennon, Brian McKnight, Mr. Cheeks from The Lost Boyz, Malaysian hip-hop duo Too Phat, Malaysian singer Camelia, Singaporean rapper Sheikh Haikel, and Taiwanese pop singer Evonne. With his sizzling buttery voice, Trisno has captivated local and international audience. Coupled along with his versatility in music and adept talent at working the crowd, he is described as "the guy who was born to be a performer".

Michael Chua is a film producer, film director and poet from Singapore. Michael graduated from the Film, Sound and Video department of Ngee Ann Polytechnic in 1997. Upon embarking on his professional career, he has directed and shot various projects of different genres, including music videos, commercials, TV dramas and feature length movies.

Tokyo Square is a Singaporean band formed by lead singer Linda Elizabeth Dana and guitarist Peter Han in 1984. After receiving regular gigs at a theater disco lounge, the band was then joined by Dana's half brother, singer Max Surin with four other technical members.

The Teng Company is a Singaporean non-profit arts company that mixes influences from both the East and the West, as well as from traditional and contemporary sources through the Teng Ensemble. The company comprises music educators, scholars, and instrumentalists and reinterpret music from Singapore's Chinese heritage. Established in 2004, it became a charity in 2015 and an Institution of a Public Character in 2017.
