Musica Nova Prize

The competition Musica Nova is a competition for composers of electroacoustic music, a form of classical contemporary music, held in Prague. [1] [2] The competition was first held in 1969 and now features two categories of entry, one for tape music and another for music including vocals and instrumentals. [3]

Recipients include Fabio Cifariello Ciardi ('93),Jean-Claude Risset ('95), Charles L. Bestor ('96), Emil Viklický ('96), Alessandro Cipriani ('96), John Levack Drever ('96 & '97), Robert Normandeau ('98), and Marta Jiráčková ('98).

The Hellenic Electroacoustic Music Composers Association (HELMCA), founded in 2002, is the only national association of electroacoustic music in Greece.. It is registered as a nonprofit organization. Its members are active composers and sound artists who creatively use advances in music technology, producing a variety of musical forms of sonic art in their work. The main aim of HELMCA is to strengthen the collaboration and solidarity among its members and to promote electroacoustic music in Greece and abroad.

The idea of organizing the first international music competition in the Czech Republic emerged in 1946. It was proposed by the conductor Rafael Kubelík and members of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra as a part of the Prague Spring International Music Festival. The first competition took place in May, 1947. In 1957, the Prague Spring International Music Competition became one of the founding members of the World Federation of International Music Competitions.

Henry Vega is a composer and Electroacoustic musician from New York City, currently living in The Hague, Netherlands. He founded The Spycollective in 2006, a now defunct music, theater and dance group, and is a founding director of Artek Foundation. Vega has been composing and performing internationally since 2001 and is also a founding member of The Electronic Hammer trio with Diego Espinosa and Juan Parra Cancino. He is married to Polish composer Kasia Glowicka.

The International Confederation of Electroacoustic Music (ICEM), or Confédération Internationale de Musique Électroacoustique (CIME), cofounded by the Bourges International Confederation of Electroacoustic Music, formerly Groupe de musique expérimentale de Bourges, in 1981 in Bourges, is a music organization in support of electroacoustic music, including computer music.

Malle Maltis is an Estonian composer. She currently teaches composition and electronic music at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and has been a music director at the Estonian Drama Theatre since 2013. She is also a member of the Estonian Composers' Union.
