Musidisc is a French record label that provides music and home video distribution. It was founded in 1927, and purchased by Universal Music Group in 1999.

History

Musidisc is known for having produced a rare recording of Jeanne Calment, who has had the longest confirmed human life span in history. On February 19, 1996, just two days before her 121st birthday, Time's Mistress, a four-track CD of Calment speaking over a background of rap and hip hop, was released. [1]

Bleach were an English indie rock band from Ipswich, usually considered part of the shoegazing genre. The band was formed in 1989 by brothers Neil and Nick Singleton together with drummer Steve Scott and vocalist Salli Carson. Their first release was the Eclipse EP in 1990, followed in 1991 by the Snag EP. The tracks from these two EPs were collected on an album in 1991. They recorded two Peel sessions, in 1990 and 1991, which were broadcast on BBC Radio One. 1992 saw the release of the full-length album Killing Time, and the single "Shotgun", a surprising mixture of shoegazing and rap. In 1993 the band released two separate mini-albums, Hard and Fast. The group disbanded shortly thereafter.

Accord is a French classical record label, and the main classical imprint of Universal Music France. The brand originally belonged in France to Musidisc, founded in 1995, which incorporated the labels Accord, Adès, Disc AZ, Adda, Vega, Le Club Français du Disque, Sofrason. When Polygram acquired Musidisc in 1999 it began to use the label Accord for releases of Decca France, and for the Euterp series of the Orchestra of Montpellier.
