Omaha is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Nebraska and the county seat of Douglas County. It is located in the Midwestern United States along the Missouri River, about 10 mi (15 km) north of the mouth of the Platte River. The nation's 40th-most populous city, Omaha had a population of 486,051 as of the 2020 census. It is the anchor of the eight-county Omaha–Council Bluffs metropolitan area, which extends into Iowa and is the 58th-largest metro area in the United States, with a population of 967,604. Furthermore, the greater Omaha–Council Bluffs–Fremont combined statistical area had 1,004,771 residents in 2020.

The Nebraska State Capitol is the seat of government of the U.S. state of Nebraska and is located in downtown Lincoln. Designed by New York architect Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue in 1920, it was constructed of Indiana limestone from 1922 to 1932. The First National Bank Tower is a 45-story office skyscraper located at 1601 Dodge Street in downtown Omaha, Nebraska, United States, and the official headquarters of First National Bank of Omaha. At 634 ft (193 m) it is the tallest building in Omaha and the state. It has been since its completion, overtaking the 30-story Woodmen Tower located nearby. Construction began in April 1999 and lasted until 2002, with the building's completion being the subject of ACEC and Emporis awards.
The WoodmenLife Tower is a 478.02 feet (145.70 m) high-rise building at 1700 Farnam Street in downtown Omaha, Nebraska, and headquarters of WoodmenLife insurance company. Construction of the building began in 1966 and was completed in the spring of 1969. At its completion, the WoodmenLife Tower was the tallest building in the state of Nebraska, overtaking the Nebraska State Capitol. The WoodmenLife tower would hold this record until 2002, when it was overtaken by First National Bank Tower. The building was featured in the 2002 movie About Schmidt, starring Jack Nicholson and directed by Alexander Payne.
The Union Pacific Center at 1400 Douglas Street is a high-rise building in downtown Omaha, Nebraska. It houses the headquarters of the Union Pacific Railroad and its parent company, the Union Pacific Corporation. It officially opened in June 2004 and rises 317 feet (97 m) making it the third tallest building in Omaha.

Downtown sits on the Missouri River, with commanding views from the tallest skyscrapers.
The AT&T Building is a 265 ft, 16-story skyscraper in Downtown Omaha, Nebraska, United States. It was the tallest structure in downtown Omaha until the Woodmen Tower and later First National Bank Tower surpassed it in height. The original 15 story building was built in 1918, a twelve-story addition was added on the north end in 1957 and another on the west end in 1964. An additional story was added in 1970 to bring it to sixteen stories. It was home to The Northwestern Bell headquarters until 1991 when US West merged its three Bell Operating Companies. The building is now used for Lumen's Omaha operations.
The Farnam Hotel is a 255 ft, 15-story skyscraper at the corner of South 13th and Farnam Streets in Downtown Omaha, Nebraska, United States. It was built in 1990 as an office building and was formerly known as 1200 Landmark Center, at one point housing the Omaha operations of Pacific Life. The hotel opened on May 20, 2021.
The First National Bank Building is a U-shaped, fourteen-story, historic steel structure building located on the corner of 16th and Farnam street in Downtown Omaha, Nebraska. The building was constructed in 1917. It was the original building for the First National Bank as well as the first high-rise building built in Omaha. At 210 feet, it is the 17th tallest building in the city and its unique structure makes it a landmark in downtown Omaha.
The Elmwood Tower is a high-rise residential building located at 801 South 52nd Street in midtown Omaha, Nebraska, United States. Completed in 1964, the Elmwood Tower is a 320 ft (98 m) high-rise building, rising to 23 stories, and currently the eighth tallest high-rise in Omaha. When construction began in 1961, the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) granted the largest mortgage to the Midwest in their history to the project, totaling $4.9 million USD. The building was originally constructed to house members of the Masons and their families. In 1970, the Elmwood Tower experienced a three-alarm fire on the fifth floor, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. Today, Elmwood Tower provides residential living for people aged 55 and older.
The former Woodmen of the World Building in Omaha, Nebraska, was located at 1323 Farnam Street. Built in 1912 by the architectural firms of Holabird & Roche and Fisher and Lawrie, the building was the headquarters of Woodmen of the World (WOW) from 1912 until 1934. WOW relocated in 1934 to the Bee Newspaper Building at 17th and Farnam, also known as the Insurance Building.
The Mutual of Omaha Headquarters Tower will be a 677-foot (206 m), 44 story skyscraper at 14th and Douglas Street in Downtown Omaha, Nebraska. It is estimated that it will be completed in 2026.
