Mxolisi Siyonzana is a South African politician who served as the Executive Mayor of the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality in the Free State Province from 16 August 2021 until 6 March 2023. He replaced Olly Mlamleli,who was removed in a motion of no confidence back in August 2020. Siyonzana is a member of the African National Congress and the former speaker of the metropolitan municipality. He has been described as an ally of former Free State premier and current suspended ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]
On 2 November 2022,the interim Mangaung ANC Regional Executive Committee "recalled" Siyonzana over serious allegations of financial mismanagement,poor governance and lack of service delivery. [6] The interim ANC Provincial Executive Committee soon followed suit with wanting Siyonzana to be removed as mayor. [7] While speaking at the ANC Youth League Peter Mokaba Memorial Lecture in January 2023,newly elected ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula criticised Siyonzana,accusing him of "sleeping on the job". [8] [9] Siyonzana resigned from office on 6 March 2023 after the National Executive Committee of the African National Congress selected Gregory Nthatisi to replace him. [10]
Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality is a metropolitan municipality which governs Bloemfontein and surrounding towns in the Free State province of South Africa. Mangaung is a Sesotho name meaning "place of cheetahs",as it was not uncommon for the Basotho to name warrior regiments after ferocious animals. The most spoken language in Mangaung is Sesotho.
The 53rd National Conference of the African National Congress (ANC) was held in Mangaung,Free State from 16 to 20 December 2012,during the centenary of the ANC's establishment,also in Mangaung. It re-elected incumbent President Jacob Zuma and his supporters to the party's top leadership and National Executive Committee (NEC),solidly defeating an opposing group that had coalesced around presidential challenger Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe.
Sefora Hixsonia "Sisi" Ntombela is a South African politician who was the 6th Premier of the Free State and a Member of the Free State Provincial Legislature for the African National Congress. She previously served as the Free State MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs and Human Settlements and as MEC for Social Development. Sarah Matawana "Olly" Mlamleli is a South African politician who served as the Mayor of the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality from August 2016 until August 2020. A member of the African National Congress,she served as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Cooperative Governance,Traditional Affairs and Human Settlements from February 2012 to August 2016. In 2020,Mlamleli was ousted as Mayor of Mangaung and arrested over a controversial asbestos contract stemming from her time with the MEC.

A year later,he became the MEC for Economic and Small Business Development,Tourism and Environmental Affairs. Mashinini was appointed MEC for Police,Roads &Transport in October 2016. He was dismissed in October 2021.

Motshidisi Agnes Koloi,also spelled Motshidise,is a South African politician and educator who is currently serving as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Social Development in the Free State provincial government. Before that,she was MEC for Public Works and Human Settlements. She has served in the Free State Provincial Legislature as an ANC representative since May 2019. Prior to her election to the Provincial Legislature,Koloi had served as the executive mayor of the Moqhaka Local Municipality.
Motlagomang Grazy Qabathe,commonly known as Mamiki Qabathe,is a South African politician who served in the Executive Council of the Free State as Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Social Development from May 2019 until October 2023. Before that,she was Speaker of the Free State Provincial Legislature from 2015 to 2019. She is a member of the African National Congress (ANC).

He was elected as the Deputy Provincial Chairperson of the African National Congress in January 2023.
Nokwanje Selina "Mathabo" Leeto is a South African politician who has been the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Health in the Executive Council of the Free State and a Member of the Free State Provincial Legislature since 2023. Leeto had previously served in the provincial legislature between 2014 and 2019 and during that time,she was the MEC for Sports,Arts,Culture and Recreation. Leeto is the Provincial Treasurer of the African National Congress,as of 2023.
Motete Daniel "Oupa" Khoabane is a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the Free State Provincial Legislature from 2014 to 2019. During that time,he served as the Free State's Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Agriculture and Rural Development from 2015 to 2018 and as MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs from 2018 to 2019. He failed to gain re-election to the provincial legislature in the 2019 general election.
