Myanaung District is a district of the Ayeyarwady Region in Myanmar. [1] [2]

The Myanaung District is a newer district grouping three townships formerly part of Hinthada District. The main administrative GAD office was opened on July 1, 2022. The District consists of Kyangin Township, Myanaung Township and Ingapu Township. [3]

Pyapon is a town and seat of Pyapon District as well as Pyapon Township in the Ayeyarwady Region of Myanmar, along the Pyapon River, a distributary of the Ayeyarwady River. It is located about 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) inland from the Andaman Sea, about 75 miles (121 km) south of the previous capital, Yangon. It has a population of approximately 65,601 in 2021. It serves as a center for collecting rice from the surrounding agricultural areas, and is home to a diesel-run power plant, using equipment by the German firm Siemens.

The Township borders Letpadan Township and Monyo Township in Bago Region to the east and Gwa Township in Rakhine State to the east. Ingapu is the principal town. The Township consists of 1 city, 12 wards, 72 village tracts and 639 villages.

Hla Moe Aung is a Burmese politician who served as Chief Minister of Ayeyarwady Region and Ayeyarwady Region Parliament MP for Myanaung Township Constituency No. 1. He was appointed as Chief Minister on January 18, 2018, after the resignation of the former chief minister Mahn Johnny. Hla Moe Aung is the vice-chair of the Township National League for Democracy. In 2021, following the 2021 Myanmar coup d'état, the State Administration Council appointed Tin Maung Win as the new Chief Minister. Hla Moe Aung was placed under house arrest.
