Myartspace was a social networking service for artists. It was launched in 2006 and shut down in 2012. [1] In 2008 the site hosted over 500,000 images of contemporary art and contained a large collection of interviews with emerging artists. [2]

Art competitions and exhibits

Myartspace had been involved with international art fairs such as the Bridge Art Fair [3] and Aqua Art Miami. [4]

The site closed down in January 2012 and its address is now redirected to godaddy.com. [5]

Origins

Myartspace was founded by Catherine McCormack-Skiba in 2005 in order to help artists gain representation, recognition, and sell their artwork directly to buyers. [6] The site was launched in May 2006. [7]

Myartspace Art Scholarship Program

In 2008 myartspace launched an annual art scholarship competition. The free to enter art competition was open to undergraduate and graduate art students worldwide. The scholarship program focused on art students who exhibit exceptional artistic excellence in their chosen visual art medium. The site provided three scholarship prizes for undergraduate students and three scholarship prizes for graduate students. First place winners in each category are awarded a $5000 cash art scholarship. Second and Third placement receive $2000 and $1000 respectively. [8]

Saatchi Gallery Physical and online contemporary art museum in Chelsea, London

The Saatchi Gallery is a London gallery for contemporary art and anindependent charity opened by Charles Saatchi in 1985. Exhibitions which drew upon the collection of Charles Saatchi, starting with US artists and minimalism, moving to the Damien Hirst-led Young British Artists, followed by shows purely of painting, led to Saatchi Gallery becoming a recognised authority in contemporary art globally. It has occupied different premises, first in North London, then the South Bank by the River Thames, and finally in Chelsea, Duke of York's HQ, its current location. In 2019 Saatchi Gallery became a registered charity and begun a new chapter in its history. Recent exhibitions include the major solo exhibition of the artist JR, JR: Chronicles, and London Grads Now in September 2019 lending the gallery spaces to graduates from leading fine art schools who experienced the cancellation of physical degree shows due to the pandemic.

Brian Sherwin is an American art critic, writer, and blogger with a degree from Illinois College in 2003. Sherwin is a founding Management Team member of the artist social networking site myartspace, where he also served as Senior Editor for six years. As Senior Editor for myartspace.com Sherwin established an extensive interview series with emerging and established visual artists. Sherwin currently writes for FineArtViews and is the editor of The Art Edge. Sherwin is also an advocate for youth art education.
