Myna Umaiban is a toxicology book researcher and author from Kerala, India. She holds a Doctorate in Scientific and Cultural Analysis of Traditional Toxicology Books in Kerala. She has authored numerous books including novels, short stories and books on toxicology.

Biography

Myna Umaiban was born on 22 February 1978 in Adimali Deviar Colony in Idukki district of Kerala. [1] She done her primary education from Government Lower Primary School, Marayoor, St. Mary's Upper Primary School, Marayoor and Deviar Colony Vocational Higher Secondary School, Idukki. She then completed a degree in commerce and post graduate degree in Malayalam and Sociology and post graduate diploma in Mass Communication & Journalism.

Myna was born in a family that traditionally treats poisoning. [2] Her grand father was also a traditional medical practitioner. [2] That's how Maina's interest in books about Traditional Toxicology came about.

Myna Umaiban has worked as a clerk in Calicut Co-operative Urban Bank for some time. She got the job in the bank while studying journalism. After completing her studies on leave, she returned to work in the Co-operative Urban Bank. [2]

Myna later done her Doctorate in Scientific and Cultural Analysis of Toxicology Books in Kerala. [3] After that she joined MES Mampad College as a teacher. While working as the Head of the Malayalam Section at MES College, she represented Kerala at the United Nations World Reconstruction Conference held in Geneva, Switzerland from 13 to 17 May 2019. [4] In Geneva, she presented a paper on the subject 'Floods and Gender Justice'. [4] She is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Malabar Natural History Society, a member of the Editorial Board of the Eureka Biweekly and a member of the Executive Committee of the MES College Biodiversity Club. Personal life

Her husband Sunil K Faisal is a senior manager in Kozhikode District Co-operative Bank. [5] They have two children. [5]

Literary career

Myna started writing when she was eight or nine years old. After seeing a play in school, she wrote a play first. [2] Later, the plays were performed with the help of friends and relatives. [2] Maina, who started writing poetry while studying in the eighth grade, started writing short stories during her degree studies. [5] Attending the Basheer Memorial Short Story Workshop at Nehru College, Kanhangad inspired her to focus more on writing. [5] Her first novel Chandanagramam has been shortlisted in the Mathrubhumi Novel Competition. [1]

Myna writes articles and stories on environmental, women and social issues in many periodicals. [3]

N. Prabhakaran is a noted short story writer, novelist, poet, playwright, essayist, educationist, editor and columnist in Malayalam. He won the 2022 Kerala Sahitya Akademi honorary fellowship. The eldest of the five children born to N Kunhambu and A Kalliani, Prabhakaran was born at Parassinikkadavu in Kannur district of Kerala on 30 December 1952. He spent his childhood days at Madayi. Prabhakaran studied at Madayi L P School, Govt. High School, Madayi, Payyannur College and Government Brennen College, Thalassery. He served as a lecturer at the Dept. of Malayalam of Lekshmipuram college of Arts and Science, Neyyoor, Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu, University College, Thiruvananthapuram, CKG Memorial Govt College, Perambra, and Govt Brennen College, Thalassery, and retired while serving as the Head of the Malayalam Department of Brennen College. The writer also served as a visiting professor of Malayalam at the University of Calicut. Prabhakaran resides at Dharmadam in Thalassery.

Priya A. S. is an Indian writer of Malayalam literature. She writes short stories, children's literature, translations and memoirs. She has translated Arundhati Roy's The God of Small Things into Malayalam under the title Kunju Karyangalude Odeythampuran of which Roy herself has said that although there have been translations in several languages, no other translation is as important to her as this, as it is the language of the novel's central characters. She is a three-time recipient of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award.

Kadathanat Madhavi Amma was an Indian poet, novelist and short story writer of Malayalam literature. Known for poetry anthologies such as Kalyopaharam and Kanikkonna, she was also the author of two works based on Vadakkan Pattukal viz. Thacholi Othenan and Payyamvelli Chandu. The Kerala Sahitya Akademi awarded her their annual award for overall contributions in 1996.

Karunakaran is an Indian poet, novelist, short story writer and essayist who writes in Malayalam. Known for an original style of writing, he has published a number of novels, short story anthologies, poetry anthologies, studies and essays. He was born in Pattambi, a town in Palakkad district of the south Indian state of Kerala. His oeuvre comprises novels such as Yuvaavaayirunna Onpathu Varsham and short story anthologies like Paayakkappal and he is a recipient of the 2019 O. V. Vijayan Sahitya Puraskaram. He lives in Kuwait.

Chandrakala S. Kammath is a Malayalam language writer from Kerala, India. She is the author of several novels. Her novel Rugma has made into a movie. Sreekumaran Thampi has serialized her novels Bhiksha and Sapatni. Writing novels and stories since last 40 years, her last published novel is Sumangala. In 2014, for outstanding contributions in the field of Malayalam literature, she has been awarded Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Overall contribution.

She has also received several other awards including Vaikkom Muhammad Basheer Awardand EP Sushama Ankanam Award.
