The NJIT Highlanders women's basketball team is the basketball team that represents New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, New Jersey, United States. The school's teams are members of the America East Conference. [2]
The Highlanders joined Division I in 2006 after being in Division II since 1997. In the final year of the Great West Conference, NJIT (who had finished 2nd out of the 5 teams with a 6–2 conference record) won the tournament, their first ever in school history. They have never qualified for the NCAA Tournament. [3]
The NJIT Highlanders, formerly the New Jersey Tech Highlanders, are the varsity sport members of the Division I NCAA-affiliated sports teams of New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). There are ten men's teams, seven women's teams, and three club teams along with a variety of intramural teams. The school's primary conference is the America East Conference. In November 2017 NJIT opened the Wellness and Events Center (WEC) which incorporates upgraded facilities for most Division 1 sports including a 3,500-seat arena for basketball and volleyball.

Isaiah Jamal Wilkerson is an American former professional basketball player. He finished his U.S. collegiate career in 2011–12 as the Great West Conference Player of the Year. He became the first player from New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) to win the player of the year award and only the third overall winner in Great West history.

Christopher Mauricio Flores is an American former professional basketball player. He was the 2012–13 Great West Conference Player of the Year as a senior after leading the NJIT Highlanders to the school's first ever Great West Conference regular season championship. He is NJIT's all-time leading scorer in the Division I era after finishing his career with 1,726 points.

After two seasons as the only Division I independent, they were first year members of the Atlantic Sun Conference. They finished the season 20–15, 8–6 in A-Sun play to finish in to finish in a three way tie for second place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the A-Sun tournament to Stetson. They were invited to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament where they defeated Army, Boston University, and Texas–Arlington to advance to the semifinals where they lost to Columbia.
The Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center (WEC) is a 220,000 sq ft. sports and recreation facility that includes a 3,500 seat basketball arena in Newark, New Jersey. It was built at a cost of $102 million by the New Jersey Institute of Technology. The Wellness and Events Center is the home court of the NCAA Division I American East Conference, NJIT Highlanders. The WEC replaced the former arena of the Highlanders, the Fleisher Center. The new arena broke ground on November 12, 2015, and opened in time for the 2017–18 basketball season.

Robert Joseph McClellan is an American college baseball coach and former pitcher. He is the head baseball coach at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. McClellan played college baseball at Seward County Community College from 2001 to 2002 and Arizona State University in 2003 before pursuing a professional career.
