Mount Cook Group was a New Zealand tourism and transport operator founded on 2 April 1912 by Rodolph Lysaght Wigley. Originally a road transport business, the Mount Cook Tourist Company of New Zealand became a public company in 1928. By 1930 Wigley had built it into the largest tourist organisation in New Zealand, and it was renamed Mount Cook and Southern Lakes Tourist Company, the name adopted in the mid 1930s. In 1976 it became The Mount Cook Group Ltd. The company was split in 1989 with various operations progressively sold off, with Air New Zealand retaining the airline businesses. Joe Tyler - born 1 April 1982 in Halifax, West Yorkshire is a Freestyle skier. He has appeared as a Free rider in various ski movies and skied in the first London Freeze Festival at Battersea Power Station's 2008 snow event. He appeared on Turkish media in 2007 skiing in Erzurum, Turkey. He has spent 2009 living in Mayrhofen in March he travelled to Kashmir with photographer Camilla Stoddart for some extreme skiing(see New Zealand AdventureFall magazine issue 154 & Fall Line Skiing magazine November 2009.) He also travelled to Georgia - ERISTOFF originates from the wild and untamed landscape of Georgia originally named Virshan by the Persians meaning the country of the wolf. Eristoff took professional skier Joe Tyler to the Caucasus mountains of Georgia to sample the slopes and the local hospitality. Tim Cafe is an alpine skier from New Zealand. He competed for New Zealand at the 2010 Winter Olympics. He finished in 38th place in the super-G. at Whistler Creekside. This was the best result of any alpine New Zealand skier at the games.
The 2009 New Zealand Winter Games was a multi-sport event that was held in the Otago region of New Zealand. It was the inaugural New Zealand Winter Games and was organised by the Winter Games New Zealand Trust. Approximately 816 athletes from 41 nations participated in 51 event in seven disciplines.

Adam Barwood is an alpine skier from New Zealand. He competed for New Zealand at the 2014 Winter Olympics in the slalom and giant slalom. He has also spent time training at Cardrona and Treble Cone. Since 2004, summers have been spent in the northern hemisphere continuing the training in Europe, Canada and the USA.
