History

Naara Aaba Wine Company was founded in 2017 by Tage Rita, an agricultural engineer by training, who decided to venture into winemaking. [3] The winery is situated in the Apatani-inhabited Hong Village, which is known for its large-scale kiwi fruit production. The company uses locally grown, organic kiwis to produce its wine, ensuring that the product is chemical-free and sustainable. [4] [5] [6]

Production

The production process at Naara Aaba involves using advanced winemaking techniques with machinery imported from various parts of the world. [7] [8] [9] The kiwis are harvested, fermented, and processed to create a unique and high-quality wine. The production has significantly boosted the local economy by providing livelihoods to many farmers in the region. [10]

Distribution

Despite its high quality, Naara Aaba wine faces distribution challenges due to the remote location of Arunachal Pradesh and the poor condition of the roads. [11] Currently, the wine is primarily available in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, priced at INR 1200 and INR 1500 per bottle respectively. [12]

Recognition

Naara Aaba wine has gained national recognition and is used as a case study by global universities for its innovative approach to winemaking and its impact on local communities. [13]

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Indian wine</span> Wine making in India

The modern Indian Wine market is small but growing; annual per capita consumption of wine in the country is a mere 9 millilitres, approximately 1/8000th that of France. The main reason for this can be attributed to the fact that Indians preference for hard liquor and beer boasts nearly 98% of market share whereas wine with low ABV only has 2% market share. The viticulture in India has a long history, dating back to the time of the Indus Valley civilization when grapevines were believed to have been introduced from Persia. Winemaking has existed throughout most of India's history but was particularly encouraged during the time of the Portuguese and British colonization of the subcontinent. The end of the 19th century saw the phylloxera louse take its toll on the Indian wine industry, followed by religious and public opinion moving towards the prohibition. Following the country's independence from the British Empire, the Indian government encouraged vineyards to convert to table grape and raisin production. In the 1980s and 1990s, a revival in the Indian wine industry took place as international influences and the growing middle class started increasing demand for the beverage. By the turn of the 21st century, demand was increasing at a rate of 20-30% a year. The city of Nashik in the state of Maharashtra is called the "Wine Capital of India".

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Polish wine</span> Wine making in Poland

Polish wine viticulture and origins have a history dating back to the nation's founding in the tenth century under the Piast dynasty. Like other old world wine producers, many traditional grape varieties still survive in Poland, perfectly suited to their local wine hills. The most popular varieties of grapes for the production of red wine are Regent, Rondo, Pinot Noir, Maréchal Foch, Cabernet Cortis, Tryumf Alzacji, Cascade, and Dornfelder. For white wine production, Solaris, Riesling, Seyval Blanc, Pinot Gris, Johanniter, Jutrzenka, Hibernal, Aurora, Bianka, Traminer, and Siberia are mostly used. Following the Second World War, most wineries were nationalized under the Polish People's Republic communist regime. After the collapse of communism and return to capitalism, the market economy returned, international wine companies moved back in and a period of consolidation followed. Modern wine-production methods have taken over in the larger wineries, and EU-style wine regulations have been adopted, guaranteeing the quality of the wine. Today, wine production in Poland is an industry with 151 officially registered wineries to sell and produce grape table wines in Poland as defined by the national wine laws that came into being in 2008 and were updated later on.
