Nadezhda Gumerova (Russian : Надежда Гумерова; born January 1, 1949) is a retired female long-distance runner from Kazakhstan, who represented the Soviet Union during her career. She is best known for winning the gold medal in the women's marathon race at the 1986 Goodwill Games. She placed eighth at the New York City Marathon in 1982 with a time of 2:35:37.

Rosa Maria Correia dos Santos Mota, GCIH, GCM is a Portuguese former marathon runner, one of her country's foremost athletes, being the first sportswoman from Portugal to win Olympic gold. Mota was the first woman to win multiple Olympic marathon medals as well as being the only woman to be the reigning European, World, and Olympic champion at the same time. On the 30th Anniversary Gala of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) she was distinguished as the greatest female marathon runner of all time.
Lorraine Mary Moller in Putāruru is a former athlete from New Zealand, who competed in track athletics and later specialised in the marathon. Moller's international career lasted over 20 years and included winning a silver medal in the marathon at the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh and a bronze medal in the marathon at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona at the age of 37. A four-time Olympian, she also completed the marathon at the 1984, 1988 and 1996 games. Her other marathon victories included the 1984 Boston Marathon and being a three-time winner (1986,87,89) of the Osaka International Ladies Marathon.
Laura Fogli is an Italian former long-distance runner who specialized in the marathon race. She finished ninth at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and sixth at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. She also won silver medals at the European Championships in 1982 and 1986, and finished second in the New York City Marathon in 1983 and 1988. Her marathon victories include Rome (1982) and Pittsburgh (1986).
Olga Appell Avalos is an American long-distance runner from Mexico, best known for winning the gold medal in the women's marathon at the 1991 Pan American Games in Havana, Cuba. She ran at the 1992 Summer Olympics the following year, but failed to finish the race. She competed for Mexico until February 25, 1994, at which point she switched allegiance to the United States. She represented her adopted country at the 1996 Summer Olympics. There she was eliminated in the qualifying heats of the women's 10,000 metres event.
Rodolfo Gómez Orozco is a Mexican former long-distance runner who was one of the leading runners represented from Mexico in the 1970s and 1980s. He won the Tokyo Marathon (1981), the IAAF Citizen Golden Marathon in Athens (1982), the Rotterdam Marathon (1982), the Nike OTC Marathon (1982), the Pittsburgh Marathon (1987) and the Mexico City Marathon (1987). He gained prominence on American television in 1982 when he finished in second place, four seconds back in 2:09:33 while being the primary foil to Alberto Salazar's third victory in a row at the New York Marathon. He ran a personal best of 2:09:12 at the 1983 Tokyo Marathon, finishing third in that race.
Zoya Ivanova is a retired long-distance runner from Kazakhstan, who represented the Soviet Union in the women's marathon at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea.

Charlotte Teske is a former female long-distance runner from Germany, who represented West Germany at the 1984 Summer Olympics. She won the 1982 edition of the Boston Marathon, and the 1986 edition of the Berlin Marathon.
Sarah Louise Rowell is a British former long-distance runner. Born in Hostert, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, she ran 2:39:11 at the age of 20 at the 1983 London Marathon. Later that year she won the gold medal in the women's marathon at the 1983 Universiade in Edmonton. At the 1984 London marathon she improved her best to 2:31:28 to qualify for the British team for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. In the inaugural women's Olympic marathon, she finished 14th. She broke the British record when running her personal best for the marathon with 2:28:06, when finishing second behind Ingrid Kristiansen at the 1985 London Marathon.

Akemi Masuda is a retired Japanese female long-distance runner. She competed for Japan at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California, although she failed to finish the race. Masuda set her personal best in the classic distance (2:30:30) in 1983.
Kathryn Mary Binns is a retired female long-distance runner from England, who later was known as Kathryn Dickinson. She competed in the late 1970s and early 1980s in cross-country and distance races including the marathon and half marathon. Binns set her personal best (2:36:12) in the classic distance on 12 June 1982 in Windsor, Berkshire, defeating runner-up Carol Gould.
Paula Fudge is an English former middle and long-distance runner. She won a gold medal in the 3000 metres at the 1978 Commonwealth Games, and on 13 September 1981 she set the world record for the 5000 metres with 15.14.51, the first recognised women's 5000m world record by the IAAF. This record remained the British record until 1985 when it was broken by Zola Budd. She also won a bronze medal in the 3000 metres at the 1982 European Indoor Championships.
Lioudmila Kortchaguina is a Canadian marathon runner of Russian descent. Kortchaguina was born in Yekaterinburg, Soviet Russia, and became a Canadian citizen in June 2005. She has represented Canada internationally in events such as the 2005 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships and the 2006 Commonwealth Games.

Bogaha Kotuwe Gedara Niluka Geethani Rajasekara is a female Sri Lankan long-distance runner. With a time of 2 hours 40.07 minutes, and a new Sri Lankan record, at the 2015 Hong Kong marathon, Rajasekara achieved the qualifying standard for the marathon at the 2016 Summer Olympics. She competed in the marathon event at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics in Beijing, China, finishing 49th.
Christine Joy Pfitzinger is a New Zealand former middle-distance runner. She represented New Zealand at the 1988 Summer Olympics, where she competed in the 3000 metres. She represented New Zealand in the 1987 and 1991 IAAF World Championships and in the 1982, 1986 and 1990 Commonwealth Games. Christine won nine New Zealand national athletic championship titles: the 800 metres in 1982 and 1987; the 1500 metres in 1986, 1987, 1990 and 1999; and the 3000 metres in 1984, 1988 and 1990.
