Nancy Maybin Ferguson (1872-1967), was an American painter whose career spanned decades. She is known for her plein-air paintings. She was a member of the Philadelphia Ten. [1]
Ferguson was born in 1872 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. [2] She attended the Philadelphia School of Design for Women, studying under Elliot Daingerfield. [3] She also attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts where her instructors included Charles Hawthorne, William Merritt Chase, Arthur Carles and Hugh H. Breckenridge. [4]
Ferguson exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Philadelphia Sketch Club, the National Association of Women Painters and Sculptors, the Woodmere Art Museum, the Philadelphia School of Design for Women, the National Academy of Design, and the Art Institute of Chicago. Ferguson divided her time between Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Provincetown, Massachusetts, both of which were subjects of her landscapes over the course of her career. [4]

Elizabeth Osborne is an American painter who lives and works in Philadelphia. Working primarily in oil paint and watercolor, her paintings are known to bridge ideas about formalist concerns, particularly luminosity with her explorations of nature, atmosphere and vistas. Beginning with figurative paintings in the 1960s and '70s, she moved on to bold, color drenched, landscapes and eventually abstractions that explore color spectrums. Her experimental assemblage paintings that incorporated objects began an inquiry into psychological content that she continued in a series of self-portraits and a long-running series of solitary female nudes and portraits. Alice Kent Stoddard (1883–1976) was an American painter of portraits, landscapes, and seascapes. Many of her works, particularly portraits, are in public collections, including University of Pennsylvania's portrait collection, Woodmere Art Museum, and other museums. She lived and painted on Monhegan Island in Maine, an enclave of artists. During World War II, she worked as a combat artist and drafted designs for airplanes. She married late in life to Joseph Pearson, who had been a friend and taught at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.

Breckenridge taught for more than forty years at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, becoming the school's Dean of Instruction in 1934. He also taught from 1920 to 1937 at his own Breckenridge School of Art in Gloucester, Massachusetts.
