Nande Mabala (born 16 July 1998) is a South African model and influencer. [1] [2] She was crowned the second runner-up of Miss South Africa 2023 and the first runner-up of Miss World SA 2024. [3]

Early life

Mabala was born on 16 July 1998 and raised in Zwelethemba, Western Cape, South Africa. [4] [5] [6] Mabala holds a bachelor's degree in Industrial Psychology, Political Science, and Sociology from the University of Western Cape. [7] [8] In 2021, she co-founded the non-profit organization called Uyathandwa Foundation, whose mission is to empower and advocate for all historically disadvantaged groups in South Africa. She lives in Worcester. [7] [5]

Pageantry

Miss South Africa 2023

Mabala was the 2nd Runner-up Miss South Africa 2023, held at the SunBet Arena in Menlyn, Pretoria, on 13 August 2023, competing against seven other contestants. [6] [7] [8] She had been previously announced as one of the 30 semifinalists in May 2024. [9]

Miss World SA 2024

In October 2024, Mabala was named the 1st Runner-up of Miss World SA 2024, [7] held at Sun City on SABC 3. Following this placement, she visited Buffalo City to speak with young people to inspire them to pursue their goals. [10]

Miss South Africa is a national beauty pageant in South Africa that selects South African representatives to compete in one of the Big Four international beauty pageants Miss Universe, and also selects another representative to participate in Sub-major international pageant Miss Supranational. The Miss South Africa organisation resorted to a contemporary format in selecting representatives which was inaugurated in 2018. Following their newer method, both a Miss World South Africa and a Miss Universe South Africa were selected as representatives. Tatum Keshwar is a South African fashion model, psychologist and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss South Africa 2008. She represented South Africa at Miss Universe 2009 and placed in the top 10. Keshwar also represented South Africa at Miss World 2009 and placed second runner-up.

Miss South Africa 2019 was the 61st edition of the Miss South Africa pageant. It was held on 9 August 2019 at Sun Arena at Time Square in Pretoria, Gauteng. Tamaryn Green of Western Cape crowned her successor Zozibini Tunzi of Eastern Cape at the end of the event. Tunzi represented South Africa in Miss Universe 2019 and was crowned Miss Universe while 1st Runner-Up Sasha-Lee Olivier represented the country in Miss World 2019. Olivier assumed the title of Miss South Africa 2019 due to Tunzi winning the Miss Universe title.

Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina is a South African-Nigerian beauty pageant titleholder who won Miss Universe Nigeria 2024. She represented Nigeria at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant in Mexico and finished as the first runner-up. She was also crowned Miss Universe Africa and Oceania as the highest ranked African Contestant of 2024. Her placement is Nigeria’s highest at any Miss Universe pageant.
