Naomi Bashkansky (born 2003), is an American chess player, a World Schools Chess Champion (Girls U13), [1] a North American Junior Girls Under 20 Champion, [2] and a Woman International Master. [3]

Bashkansky won first place in the 2016 World Schools Chess Championship in Sochi, [4] and became the 2017 North American Junior Girls Under 20 Champion in Dallas, TX. [2]

Bashkansky won the US All-Girls National Chess Championships U10 (in 2013) [5] [6] and U12 (in 2015). [7] [8] She tied for first place in the 2013 Pan-American Youth Chess Championship in Brazil, in the Girls U10 category. [9] In 2018 Bashkansky won the North American All Girls Championship. [10]

Bashkansky graduated from Odle Middle School in 2017, from Newport High School (Bellevue, Washington) in 2021, and is now a Computer Science student at Harvard University. [11]

Odle is located near Stevenson Elementary, formerly a primary feeder elementary school for Odle. Odle is primarily known for its hosting of the ALS program, a gifted program for high-performing children. As of the 2023–24 school year, the school's principal is Joseph Potts and its assistant principals are Keith Altenhof and Danielle Virata.

Alice Lee is an American chess player who has qualified for the titles of International Master (IM) and Woman Grandmaster (WGM). She is the youngest American female player to achieve the IM title and the third youngest internationally. She is a three-time world youth champion, two-time American Cup runner-up, and #2 rated female player in the USA and the Americas .
