Naomi Pomeroy, born in Corvallis, Oregon, in 1974, is a professional chef and restaurateur. [1] In an interview, Pomeroy explains that she began cooking at the age of three and created her first recipe at the age of four. [2] She graduated from Lewis & Clark College in 1997 with a degree in history. [3] Pomeroy has no formal culinary or business training; she developed her skills by watching other food-industry professionals. [4] In 2007, she opened the restaurant Beast in Portland, Oregon. Previously, she started Gotham Tavern, Gotham Coffee shop, and ClarkLewis restaurant with Michael Hebb. [5] In 2013, Working Mother magazine featured an article which details Pomeroy's experiences as a working single parent. [6]

Professional history

In 2009, Pomeroy was listed by Food & Wine magazine as one of America's Top 10 Best New Chefs. [7] As a restaurateur, she was recognized in the October 2010 issue of Marie Claire as one of the 18 Most Powerful Women in Business. [8] O, The Oprah Magazine mentions her career endeavors and named her as one of the Top 10 Women on the Rise for 2010. [9] In 2014, Pomeroy won the James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef Northwest. [10]

In 2010, Pomeroy appeared on Iron Chef and lost to Chef Jose Garces. [11] Her television appearances also include serving as a 2014 guest judge on the television series Knife Fight. [12] Pomeroy also spoke at a TedxPortland Talk in 2013. [13]

Pomeroy is scheduled to publish her first cookbook in 2016 with Ten Speed Press. [14] According to Publishers Weekly, the cookbook would be titled Oui: Lessons from an Award-Winning Self-Taught Chef. [15] Pomeroy's cookbook, released in 2016, was entitled Taste & Technique: Recipes to Elevate Your Home Cooking. [16]

Her restaurant, Beast, closed in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Pomeroy now uses the space for a new venture called Ripe Cooperative, a marketplace that also sells meal boxes for customers to finish at home. [17]

Pomeroy was a guest judge on season 2 of Bobby's Triple Threat in 2023. [18]

Stephanie Izard is an American chef and television personality best known as the first female chef to win Bravo's Top Chef, taking the title during its fourth season. She is the co-owner and executive chef of three award-winning Chicago restaurants, Girl and the Goat, Little Goat, and Duck Duck Goat, and opened her first restaurant, Scylla as chef-owner at the age of 27. Izard received a James Beard Foundation Award for "Best Chef: Great Lakes" in 2013 for her work at Girl and the Goat. She has made a number of appearances on Top Chef since her win, both as a guest judge on subsequent seasons and as a participant in Top Chef Duels. In 2017, Izard competed in the Food Network series Iron Chef Gauntlet, where she overall defeated chefs Bobby Flay, Michael Symon, and Masaharu Morimoto to obtain the title of Iron Chef.

Gale Gand is a Chicago-based pastry chef, cookbook author, television personality, and winner of the 2001 James Beard Foundation Award for Outstanding Pastry Chef. Gand was the host of the Food Network show Sweet Dreams. She was the Chef-in-Residence at Elawa Farm, in Lake Forest, Illinois. Gand is a partner and was the founding Executive Pastry Chef at Tru, a contemporary fine-dining restaurant affiliated with Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises. Gand and her partners at Tru won the 2007 James Beard Foundation Award for Service. She has blogged for the Huffington Post, was a contestant on Iron Chef America in the 2006–2007 season, and was a judge on Bravo's Top Chef in 2008 for the episode Wedding Wars. Gand was also featured on the Great Chefs television program.

Kevin Gillespie is an American chef, author and former Top Chef contestant. He is a former co-owner and executive chef at Woodfire Grill in Atlanta. He opened Gunshow, a restaurant in Atlanta, in 2013 and Revival, a restaurant in Decatur, Georgia, in 2015. Gillespie also started Red Beard Restaurants, allowing Gillespie to expand and provide consulting services to other start-ups. Kevin Gillespie's Gamechanger opened in August 2017 on the 200 concourse western end zone of the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
