Naples to New York (Italian : Napoli - New York) is a 2024 Italian period drama film, directed by Gabriele Salvatores and starring Pierfrancesco Favino. It follows two Neapolitan kids traveling to New York to escape the poverty of post-war Italy.
Naples, 1949. A deafening roar, and the house where little Celestina lived is gone. Along with the house, the girl’s aunt is also gone. Celestina, an orphan, has already seen her older sister Agnese leave for distant America with the Yankee who promised to marry her. The only friend she has left is Carmine, a boy slightly older than her, who survives on odd jobs in the streets of Naples.
Carmine meets George, a towering African American cook working on a U.S. Navy ship. Carmine and Celestina end up on that ship bound for New York, where the girl hopes to reunite with her sister. However, upon arriving at the address Agnese provided, they do not find her. This sets them on a series of adventures involving the ship's purser, Domenico Garofalo, a kind-hearted yet gruff figure reminiscent of Mangiafuoco.
The film was shot during the summer of 2023 in Naples, Trieste, Rijeka, and at the Cinecittà studios in Rome. [1]

Santa Maria del Carmine is a church in Naples, Italy. It is at one end of Piazza Mercato, the centre of civic life in Naples for many centuries until it was cut off from the rest of the city by urban renewal in 1900. The church was founded in the 13th century by Carmelite friars driven from the Holy Land in the Crusades, presumably arriving in the Bay of Naples aboard Amalfitan ships. Some sources, however, place the original refugees from Mount Carmel as early as the eighth century. The church is still in use and the 75–metre bell tower is visible from a distance even amidst taller modern buildings.
