The UK National Association for Environmental Education (NAEE) is one of the earliest [1] environmental education non-profit organizations in the United Kingdom formed in 1960 as the National Rural Studies Association, and since 1971 operating under its current name. [2]

Its mission is promoting environmental education in all forms, as well as supporting educators in their work, to make the future of our planet more sustainable. It provides resources and training of teachers and non-formal educators interested in teaching sustainability in their classes [3] and developing a sustainability-oriented curriculum, [4] in particular focusing on early education, [5] and with a particular emphasis on local context education. [6] It is the only association in the UK that is run by teachers for their peers. [7]

It is registered as a charity organization and publishes a triannual practitioner journal, Environmental Education. [8] Since 2017 NAEE is running a fellowship program in recognition of individuals, who make a contribution to environmental education. It is also offering bursaries to carry out outdoors environmental education. [9]

Its current President is Justin Dillon, [10] Professor of Science and Environmental Education at University College London. [11] The board of trustees is chaired by William Scott, and Nina Hatch is Executive Director. [12]

The goal of the organization is to educate children and their families about environmental issues, and mobilize them to take actions that protect animals and the environment. Earth Rangers is membership-based, with over 300,000 members and alumni across Canada. Earth Rangers also provides in-school programming to elementary schools, with school assemblies that feature live animal ambassadors. Earth Rangers headquarters is located in Woodbridge, Ontario.

Global Action Plan is an NGO that specialises in sustainable behaviour change, and in particular in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). There are programmes for schools and youth, households and communities, and workplaces. The ethos is that small changes to the choices we make every day make a big difference when widely adopted.

Founded in 1903, the CA supports and advances classical learning in schools, colleges, universities and local areas, and it has a wide membership. The Family School at Larkhall was a small, alternative school, based in South London, UK, founded by Polly Griffiths in 2007/8 to offer a Democratic education model to primary age children. The school closed in December 2012.

Teach the Future is a youth-led campaign pushing for broad climate education in the UK, with specific branches in Scotland, England and Wales. It is formed by a volunteer base of students studying across England, Scotland and Wales at all levels of education - from secondary to tertiary - who believe that sustainability and climate change need to be taught across the curriculum, equipping generations to come with the skills and knowledge needed for the green jobs of the futures.
