The National Mission on Libraries India, an initiative of the Ministry of Culture under the Government of India, works to modernise and digitally link nearly 9,000 libraries across India to provide readers access to books and information. The project costs around 1000 crores. [1] [2] The scheme was approved on 28 November 2013 and the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee launched the National Mission on Libraries on 2014 at Rashtrapati Bhavan. [2]
The National Knowledge Commission gave 10 recommendation on libraries in its 2011 report. Based on these recommendations Government of India started the National Mission on Libraries under the Indian Ministry of Culture. [3] Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation (RRRLF), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Culture, will be the central agency for the National Mission on Libraries for administrative, logistics, planning and budgeting purposes. Purno Agitok Sangma was an Indian politician who served as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 1996 to 1998 and Chief Minister of Meghalaya from 1988 to 1990. He was the candidate for the 2012 Indian presidential election, supported by BJP, however he lost to Congress politician Shri Pranab Mukherjee. He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second highest civilian award, posthumously in 2017 in the field of Public Affairs and was the first recipient of Padma Vibhushan from Meghalaya.
Pranab Kumar Mukherjee ; 11 December 1935 – 31 August 2020) was an Indian politician who served as the 13th president of India from 2012 until 2017. In a political career spanning five decades, Mukherjee was a senior leader in the Indian National Congress and occupied several ministerial portfolios in the Government of India. Prior to his election as President, Mukherjee was Union Finance Minister from 2009 to 2012. He was awarded India's highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna, in 2019, by his successor as President, Ram Nath Kovind.
Arackaparambil Kurien Antony, better known as A. K. Antony is an Indian politician and attorney who was the 23rd Defence Minister of India. He is the current Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, from Kerala for the fifth term since 1985. Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur is a public technical and research university located at Shibpur, Howrah, West Bengal. Vartika Nanda is Indian prison reformer and media educator. She is the founder of Tinka Tinka, a movement targeted towards prison reforms. She has received the Stree Shakti Puraskar award from the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee, the highest civilian honour for women in India on women empowerment. It was conferred to her on International Women's Day 2014 in Rashtrapati Bhavan in recognition of her contribution towards creating awareness about women's issues through media and literature. Her novel work in the field of prison reforms has been recognized by the Limca Book of Records twice.

The 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated all over India and in different countries in the world. Encyclopedia of Hinduism, 1st ed., 2012, is a comprehensive, multi-volume, English language encyclopedia of Hinduism, comprising Sanātana Dharma, a Sanskrit phrase, meaning "the eternal law", or the "eternal way", that is used to refer to Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism. It is a 7,184 page, 11-volume publication with full-color illustrations of temples, places, thinkers, rituals and festivals. Encyclopedia of Hinduism is an inspiration and dream project of Swami Chidanand Saraswati, President of Parmarth Niketan and India Heritage Research Foundation. Under preparation for 25 years, it has been edited by Dr. Kapil Kapoor with contribution from over 2000 scholars.

Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority is the regulatory body under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Finance, Government of India for overall supervision and regulation of pension in India. The Government of India had, in the year 1999, commissioned a national project titled "OASIS" to examine policy related to old age income security in India. Based on the recommendations of the OASIS report, Government of India introduced a new Defined Contribution Pension System for the new entrants to Central/State Government service, except to Armed Forces, replacing the existing system of Defined Benefit Pension System. On 23 August 2003, Interim Pension Fund Regulatory & Development Authority (PFRDA) was established through a resolution by the Government of India to promote, develop and regulate pension sector in India. The contributory pension system was notified by the Government of India on 22 December 2003, now named the National Pension System (NPS) with effect from 1 January 2004. The NPS was subsequently extended to all citizens of the country w.e.f. 1 May 2009 including self employed professionals and others in the unorganized sector on a voluntary basis.
S. K. M. Maeilanandhan, is an Indian industrialist and founder of SKM Group of companies. He was honoured by the Government of India, in 2013, by bestowing on him the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, for his contributions to the field of social service.
Mohsin Wali is an Indian cardiologist and a former honorary physician to R. Venkataraman and Shankar Dayal Sharma and the serving physician to Pranab Mukherjee. His first assignment as a physician to the President of India was with R. Venkataraman, at the age of 33, making him the youngest physician to serve an Indian President. He is the only physician to have served three Presidents of India. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2007, for his contributions to Indian medicine.
