The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), previously known as Muhajir Qaumi Movement, is a secular political party in Pakistan that was founded by Altaf Hussain in 1984. The National Defence University (NDU), formerly introduced as Army War Course (1963–70), the National Defence College (1970–2007), is the military university with additional status of public university of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan focused on military education and training for the armed forces, including Pakistan military forces and two hundred foreign participants. Formerly established on 28 May 1970 at Rawalpindi, its academic principles are focused on command instructions, national security, military strategy, and war studies among other specified academic disciplines. It is one of the oldest military education and training institutes in the country with additional enrollments reserved for the civil servants.

Dr. Arif-ur-Rehman Alvi is a Pakistani politician currently serving as the 13th President of Pakistan, in office since 9 September 2018. He was a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from June 2013 to May 2018 and again from August to September 2018. A founding member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Alvi was elected as President of Pakistan on 4 September 2018 following the 2018 Pakistani presidential election.
Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman is a Pakistani politician who is serving as 39th Governor of Punjab in office since 30 May 2022 and was appointed by President Arif Alvi, on advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He had been a member of the 14th Provincial Assembly of Punjab (2003-2007) and the 15th Provincial Assembly of Punjab (2008-2012). He had been elected for the 3rd tenure to the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab and served from August 2018 till January 2023. He has also represented Punjab in the Senate of Pakistan from March 2012 to March 2018.
Fayaz-ul-Hasan Chohan is a Pakistani politician who had been a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from August 2018 till January 2023. He was also the Official Spokesperson to the Chief Minister of Punjab and President of the Directorate General Public Relations. He has previously served as Provincial Minister of Punjab for Information, Culture, Colonies and Prisons from 27 August 2018 till 30 March 2020.
Niaz Ahmad Akhtar is a Pakistani academic who is currently serving as the vice-chancellor of Quaid-i-Azam University, in office since 14 March 2023. He is also the vice-chairman of the Pakistan Engineering Council from Punjab.
Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan Niazi is a Kashmiri politician from Azad Jammu and Kashmir who was the 13th Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir from August 2021 to April 2022. He has been a member of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative assembly since August 2021. He has been the president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter since April 2023.
A political and constitutional crisis emerged in Pakistan from, 3 April 2022 to 10 April 2022 when, National Assembly's Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri dismissed a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan during a session in which it was expected to be taken up for a vote, alleging that a foreign country's involvement in the regime change was contradictory to Article 5 of the Constitution of Pakistan. Moments later, Khan stated in a televised address that he had advised President Arif Alvi to dissolve the National Assembly. Alvi complied with Khan's advice under Article 58 of the constitution. This resulted in the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) taking a suo motu notice of the ongoing situation, creating a constitutional crisis, as effectively, Imran Khan led a constitutional coup. Four days later, the SCP ruled that the dismissal of the no-confidence motion, the prorogation of the National Assembly, the advice from Imran Khan to President Arif Alvi to dissolve the National Assembly, and the subsequent dissolution of the National Assembly were unconstitutional, and overturned these actions in a 5-0 vote. The Supreme Court further held that the National Assembly had not been prorogued and had to be reconvened by the speaker immediately and no later than 10:30 a.m. on 9 April 2022.

The Pakistan Army Amendment Bill 2023 aims to modify the clauses within the Pakistan Army Act of 1952. Its purpose is to establish the foundational framework for the establishment and continuous upkeep of the National Army. The bill was approved by both the Senate and National Assembly and sent to President Arif Alvi for his signature. The bill, along with the Official Secrets (Amendment) Bill 2023, has been widely criticized by lawmakers from both the opposition and treasury benches.
