Navin Patel (born 3 September 1994) is a New Zealand cricketer who plays for Central Districts. [1] [2]

Biography

Born in England in 1994, Patel moved to New Zealand during his childhood and obtained a bachelor's degree in commerce and science from Victoria University. [3] [4] [5]

Patel made his first-class debut on 17 December 2015 in the 2015–16 Plunket Shield. [6] In 2016, he was contracted by the Central Stags but found limited game time. [3] He made his List A debut for Central Districts on 18 January 2017 in the 2016–17 Ford Trophy. [7]

In 2017, Patel participated in the 2017 Indoor Cricket World Cup in Dubai for New Zealand. [3]

In 2019, he transitioned to a career with finance firm Leumi ABL, specializing in investment banking and stock broking. [3]

The Central Stags, formerly known as Central Districts, are a first-class cricket team based in central New Zealand. They are the men's representative side of the Central Districts Cricket Association. They compete in the Plunket Shield first-class competition, The Ford Trophy domestic one-day competition and the Men's Super Smash Twenty20 competition. Ajaz Yunus Patel is a New Zealand cricketer born in Mumbai, India who plays for Central Districts in domestic cricket. He emigrated with his family from Mumbai when he was eight years old, and was formerly a left-arm seam bowler. Patel is a slow left-arm orthodox spin bowler. He made his international debut for the New Zealand cricket team in October 2018. The following month, he made his Test debut for New Zealand, taking five wickets in the second innings. In May 2020, New Zealand Cricket awarded him with a central contract, ahead of the 2020–21 season.

Joseph Franklyn Carter is a New Zealand cricketer who plays for Northern Districts. He made his Twenty20 debut for Northern Districts on 4 December 2016 in the 2016–17 Super Smash. Prior to his Twenty20 debut, he was part of New Zealand's squad for the 2012 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

The 2016–17 Ford Trophy was the 46th season of the official List A cricket tournament in New Zealand, and the sixth in a sponsorship deal between New Zealand Cricket and Ford Motor Company. The competition ran from 15 January to 18 February 2017. The final was played between Canterbury and Wellington. Canterbury won the final by 28 runs with Peter Fulton scoring the fastest century in a List A cricket match in New Zealand.
