Politics of Bangladesh takes place in a framework of a parliamentary representative democratic republic, whereby the Prime Minister of Bangladesh is the head of government, and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and parliament. The Constitution of Bangladesh was written in 1972 and has undergone seventeen amendments.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party is a major political party in Bangladesh. The 21 August 2004 Dhaka grenade attack took place at an anti-terrorism rally organised by Awami League on Bangabandhu Avenue on 21 August 2004. The attack left 24 dead and more than 500 injured. The attack was carried out at 5:22 pm after Sheikh Hasina, the leader of opposition had finished addressing a crowd of 20,000 people from the back of a truck. Hasina also sustained some injuries in the attack. The involvement of BNP-Jamaat led government is still debated to this date.
Khondkar Delwar Hossain was a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician. He served as the secretary general of the party. He was elected five times as a Member of Parliament from constituency Manikganj-1 (Ghior-Doulatpur).
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 30 December 2018 to elect 300 directly-elected members of the Jatiya Sangsad. The result was another landslide victory for the Awami League-led Grand Alliance led by Sheikh Hasina. The elections were marred by violence, and were widely considered by opposition politicians and the international community to be rigged.
Abdul Moyeen Khan is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician. He is a member of the current standing committee of the party. He served as the minister of state for planning, government of Bangladesh during 1993–1996, minister of information during 2001–2002 and the minister of science and information & communication technology during 2002–2006. He served as a member of the Bangladesh Parliament from 1991 until 2006.
Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury is a standing committee member of Bangladesh Nationalist Party, and former minister of commerce. He hails from a political family in Chittagong and headed the city's BNP unit momentarily to organize the party.
2018 Bangladesh election violence refers to a series of brutal attacks, mostly on opposition party candidates and clashes between ruling and opposition party men centering on the general election on December 30, 2018.
The Bangladesh Krishak League was established onn 19 April 1972, at the behest of Bangabandhu, eminent lawyer Sirajul Islam Khan was appointed as the convener of the constitution-making committee and founding vice-president of the Krishka League Central Committee. Krishka League is closely associated with Bangladesh Awami League and is working as one of its affiliated organizations. Samir Chanda is currently the chairman of the Krishak League and Umme Kulsum is the general secretary.

Bangladesh election commission scandal of 2020 is the revelation of a series of corruption allegations, moral degradation of the commissioners and evidence of gross misconducts before and after the controversial 2018 Bangladeshi general election and 2019 Upazila polls in Bangladesh. Allegations included the misappropriation of around 20 million Bangladeshi taka for imaginary programs, embezzlement of 40.8 million BDT during the recruitment process of election commission staffs, purchasing the electronic voting machine at a higher price than the market rate, usage of extra cars by three election commissioners flouting rules and facilitating continuous and numerous election fraud by not investigating credible allegations of irregularities during the 11th Parliamentary Election and elections in Dhaka North and Dhaka South City Corporations, Khulna City Corporation, and Gazipur City Corporation.
Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal is the farmers wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
