Ndabakayise Erasmus Gcwabaza (born 8 July 1954) [1] is a South African politician and former anti-apartheid activist who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly from 2004 to 2019. First elected in April 2004, [1] he represented the KwaZulu-Natal constituency. [2]
During apartheid,Gcwabaza was a member of the regional executive committee of the United Democratic Front in Southern Natal from 1984 to 1991. After joining the underground of Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) in 1988,he convened an MK unit in Klaarwater and helped establish another such unit in Hammarsdale. [2] After the ANC and other anti-apartheid organisations were unbanned in 1990,he became chairperson of the ANC's new branch in Klaarwater from 1990 to 1994,and he was secretary of the Pinetown branch of the South African Communist Party from 1996 to 1998. [2]
Amos Fish Mahlalela is a South African politician from Mpumalanga. He has been the Deputy Minister of Tourism since May 2019 and has represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly since May 2014. In June 2023,he was additionally elected as the Provincial Chairperson of the ANC Veterans' League in Mpumalanga.
KwaZulu-Natal is one of the nine multi-member constituencies of the National Assembly of South Africa,the lower house of the Parliament of South Africa,the national legislature of South Africa. The constituency was established in 1994 when the National Assembly was established by the Interim Constitution following the end of Apartheid. It is conterminous with the province of KwaZulu-Natal. The constituency currently elects 41 of the 400 members of the National Assembly using the closed party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2019 general election it had 5,524,666 registered electors.
The 48th National Conference of the African National Congress (ANC) took place from 2 to 7 July 1991 at the University of Durban–Westville in Durban,KwaZulu-Natal. It was the first national conference of the ANC since the organisation was banned by the apartheid government in 1960 and marked the ascension of Nelson Mandela to the ANC presidency,which since 1967 had been held by Oliver Tambo.
Nkosinathi Benson Fihla is a South African politician and former anti-apartheid activist who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly from 1994 to 2013. He subsequently served as Mayor of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality from March 2013 until May 2015. Fihla first joined the ANC in 1954 through its Youth League and he was imprisoned on Robben Island from 1964 to 1978 for his work with Umkhonto we Sizwe.

Johannes Phumani Phungula was a South African politician and former anti-apartheid activist who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly from 2004 to 2009. A veteran of the Defiance Campaign,he joined the ANC in 1952 and spent several decades as an underground operative for Umkhonto we Sizwe in rural Natal,working closely with Jacob Zuma. He was awarded the Order of Luthuli in Gold posthumously in December 2009.

He was also a former national chairperson of the United Democratic Front,a former secretary of the Railway and Harbour Workers' Union,and a former regional commander of Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) in Natal Province.
