Nduka Charles Usim (born 23 March 1985) is a retired Nigeria-born naturalized Azerbaijani footballer who played as a defender, most notably for AZAL in the Azerbaijan Premier League.

Career

Club

Nduka began to play football in Nigeria for the youth teams. In 2004, he went on a trial for AZAL PFC and signed a one-year contract. For the next season he renewed his contract and made his debut in Azerbaijan Premier League. Since then Nduka plays for AZAL PFC becoming most capping player with more than 200 games. [1]

In July 2013, after 208 games for AZAL, Usim moved to TFF First League side Tavşanlı Linyitspor on a one-year contract. [2] After only six-months in Turkey, Usim signed a six-month contract with Simurq on 25 January 2014. [3]

International

In early 2007, Usim was called up to the Azerbaijan U21 [4] Usim was called for Azerbaijan national football team for the games versus Finland and Belgium in UEFA Euro 2008 qualifying Group A. He also played during the 2010 World Cup qualifier matches.

After football

Following his retirement from football, Usim ran a construction business in Nigeria

He is also a Registered Intermediary of the Nigerian Football Federation. [5]

The 2010–11 Azerbaijan Premier League was the nineteenth season of the Premier League since its establishment in 1992. The fixtures were announced on 29 July 2010; the season began on 7 August 2010 and ended on 28 May 2011. Neftchi Baku were the eventual champions, winning their first Azerbaijani championship since 2005.

The 2013–14 season was Gabala's ninth season as a club and their eighth season in the Azerbaijan Premier League, the top flight of Azerbaijani football. They finished the season in their highest ever position, third, and earned qualification to the UEFA Europa League for the first time in the club's history. They also participated in the Azerbaijan Cup, reaching the final for the first time, where they lost to Neftchi Baku on penalties. It was their first, and only, season with manager Yuri Semin, who mutually terminated his contract at the end of the season. Danijel Subotić was the team's top goalscorer for the season with 13, 12 of which came in the Premier League.

The Qarabağ 2013–14 season was Qarabağ's 21st Azerbaijan Premier League season, and their sixth season under manager Gurban Gurbanov. They reached the Quarterfinals of the Azerbaijan Cup, losing to Gabala, and they were crowned Champions of the Premier League. Qarabağ also competed in the 2013–14 UEFA Europa League entering at the 1st qualifying round stage. They defeated Metalurg Skopje of Macedonia, Piast Gliwice of Poland and Gefle of Sweden on their way to the playoff round where they were knocked out by Eintracht Frankfurt of Germany.

The Ravan Baku 2013-14 season was Ravan Baku's third, and final, season in the Azerbaijan Premier League, after finishing 10th and being relegated. They also reached the Semifinals of the Azerbaijan Cup where they were defeated by Neftchi Baku. It was to be Ramil Aliyev's first full season as manager, however he resigned on 12 August 2013 following 2 successive defeats and Ravan bottom of the table, Vladislav Kadyrov took over as manager. Kadyrov was himself was replaced on 7 October by Shahin Diniyev, who resigned on 3 January 2014 with Güvenç Kurtar being appointed in his place.

The AZAL 2013–14 season was AZAL's ninth Azerbaijan Premier League season, in which they finished 8th in the League. They also participated in the Azerbaijan Cup, where they were defeated in the Second Round by Qarabağ. AZAL started the season under the management of Vagif Sadygov, but he was sacked on 16 March 2014 following their defeat to Neftchi Baku, and replaced the following day by former Neftchi Assistant Tarlan Ahmadov.

The Simurq 2013–14 season was Simurq's eighth Azerbaijan Premier League season. They finished 7th in the Premier League and reached the Second Round of the Azerbaijan Cup where they were defeated by Araz. It is Giorgi Chikhradze's second full season as manager.

The Simurq PFC 2011–12 season was Simurq PFC's sixth Azerbaijan Premier League season. They started the season under the management of Sergei Yuran, before his contract was mutually terminated on 5 March. Igor Getman was appointed as the club's caretaker manager from the 5th to 11 March, when Giorgi Chikhradze was then appointed as their permanent manager. They finished the season in 9th position and were knocked out of the Azerbaijan Cup at the first round stage by vs Neftchi Baku.

The Olimpik Baku 2008–09 season was Olimpik Baku's fourth Azerbaijan Premier League season and their third season with Asgar Abdullayev as manager. They participated in the 2008–09 Azerbaijan Premier League as well as the 2008–09 Azerbaijan Cup, finishing the league in 6th place, being knocked out of the Cup at the Quarterfinal stage by Gabala and going out of the UEFA Cup at the 1st Qualifying Round stage after defeat to Vojvodina.

They participated in the 2007–08 Azerbaijan Premier League as well as the 2007–08 Azerbaijan Cup, finishing the league in 2nd, qualifying for a European competition for the first time, and reaching the quarterfinal stage of the cup, where they were eliminated by Khazar Lankaran.

The Olimpik Baku 2006–07 season was Olimpik Baku's second Azerbaijan Premier League season and their first season with Asgar Abdullayev as manager. They participated in the 2006–07 Azerbaijan Top League as well as the 2006–07 Azerbaijan Cup, finishing the league in 6th and reaching the Last 16 stage of the cup where they were eliminated by Turan Tovuz.

The 2014–15 season was Gabala's tenth season overall and ninth competing in the Azerbaijan Premier League.

The AZAL 2014–15 season is AZAL's tenth Azerbaijan Premier League season. They will participate in the League and the Azerbaijan Cup. It will be their first full season with Tarlan Ahmadov as their manager.

The AZAL PFK 2015–16 season is AZAL's eleventh Azerbaijan Premier League season, and twelfth season in their history. It is their second full season with Tarlan Ahmadov as manager, during which they will participate in the Azerbaijan Cup as well as the League.
