Aust-Agder was a county (fylke) in Norway until 1 January 2020, when it was merged with Vest-Agder to form Agder county. In 2002, there were 102,945 inhabitants, which was 2.2% of Norway's population. Its area was 9,212 square kilometres (3,557 sq mi). The county's administrative center was the town of Arendal.

Barbu is a former municipality in the old Aust-Agder county in Norway. Today, it is part of the is part of the town of Arendal in Agder county. The 15.3-square-kilometre (5.9 sq mi) municipality existed from 1878 until 1902 when it was merged into the town of Arendal. The municipality was located just to the north of what was then the 0.34-square-kilometre (84-acre) town of Arendal. The administrative centre of the small, urban municipality was called Barbu as well. Barbu Church was the church for the municipality.
Flosta is a former municipality in the old Aust-Agder county in Norway. The 22.8-square-kilometre (8.8 sq mi) municipality existed from 1902 until its dissolution in 1962. It is currently part of the municipality of Arendal in Agder county. The administrative center of Flosta was at Staubø in the village of Kilsund. The municipality primarily encompassed the two islands of Flostaøya and Tverrdalsøya and about 9 square kilometres (3.5 sq mi) on the mainland just north of the islands including the villages of Eikeland, Borås, and Vatnebu.
Rore is a lake in the municipalities of Grimstad and Arendal in Agder county, Norway. This lake, which is used as a reservoir, lies mostly in Grimstad. There is a public beach area at the southern end of the lake, near the village of Roresand. The lake is located in the Landvik area, about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) from the center of the town of Grimstad.
Syndle is a lake in the municipality of Grimstad in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the Landvik area, about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) northwest of the center of the town of Grimstad. The 6-square-kilometre (2.3 sq mi) lake Syndle flows into a small river on the northeast part of the lake which connects it to the neighboring lake Rore which eventually flows into the river Nidelva.
Eide is a former municipality in the old Aust-Agder county in Norway. It is currently located within the municipality of Grimstad in Agder county. The municipality of Eide existed from 1838 until 1962. The 32.4-square-kilometre (12.5 sq mi) municipality included 29.2 square kilometres (11.3 sq mi) of land on the mainland and the rest being nearly 70 small islands off the Skaggerak coast. The larger islands include Auseøya, Homborøya, and Ålesøya. The administrative centre was the village of Eide where the Eide Church is located. Other villages in Eide included Jortveit and Homborsund.
Landvik is a former municipality in the old Aust-Agder county in Norway. The 190.7-square-kilometre (73.6 sq mi) municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1971. The municipality's area is now located in the western and central part of the present-day municipality of Grimstad. The administrative centre was the village of Roresanden, just up the hill from the Landvik Church. Other villages in Landvik include Molland, Reddal, Skiftenes, Tjore, and Østerhus. Today, the name Landvik is still used to designate the westernmost part of the municipality of Grimstad, near the Prestegårdskogen housing development.
Evje og Vegusdal is a former municipality in the old Aust-Agder county in Norway. The 510-square-kilometre (200 sq mi) existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1877. It was located in the Setesdal region in parts of the present-day municipalities of Evje og Hornnes and Birkenes. The administrative centre was the village of Evje where the Evje Church is located.
Hornnes og Iveland is a former municipality in the old Nedenæs county in Norway. The 640-square-kilometre (250 sq mi) municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1886. It included all of the present-day municipality of Iveland and the western half of the present-day municipality of Evje og Hornnes in the Setesdal region of Agder county. The administrative centre was the village of Hornnes where the Hornnes Church is located. The other church in the municipality was the Iveland Church in the village of Birketveit.

Nedenes is a village in Arendal municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located in the southern part of Arendal, just north of the municipal border with Grimstad. The Norwegian County Road 420 runs through the village heading north to the village of Rød and onwards to the island of Hisøya to the north. Engene Church is located in Nedenes.
Nedenes District Court was a court of first instance under Agder Court of Appeal in Norway. The district court consisted of the municipalities of Arendal, Froland and Åmli, and was incorporated in Aust-Agder District Court from September 2004.
Ulrik Frederik Anton de Schouboe (1782–1863) was a Norwegian civil servant and politician. He served as the County Governor of Stavanger, Lister og Mandal, and Nedenes counties during his career.
