Needlepoint (initiated in 2010 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz-rock band. [1]
Needlepoint includes some leading Norwegian jazz musicians according to Tor Hammerø. [1] The band started out as a trio with Bjørn Klakegg, Nikolai Hængsle and Thomas Strønen in 2010 releasing the album The Woods Are Not What They Seem (2010). [2] David Wallumrød joined the team in 2012 and the album Outside The Screen was released the same year. Olaf Olsen known from Bigbang, replaced Thomas Strønen in 2014. The latest album Walking up That Valley was released in 2021. They operate in a soundscape somewhere between psychedelic 1970's rock and jazz-rock. [3]
Needlepoint have played at several festivals in Norway, at different clubs, and has also been touring in China. In November 2013 they played in Paris, and appeared at 2016 Nattjazz in Bergen, Norway. [1] [4]
Olaf Olsen is a Norwegian musician, known as the drummer of BigBang with whom he has remained the longest after frontman Øystein Greni. He is renowned for his tall posture rising high above his drum kit, emphasized by his long blonde hair and beard. Olsen currently resides in Los Angeles, California, along with the other members of the band to try their luck in the United States.
Nikolai Hængsle is a Norwegian bass guitarist. He is primarily known as a member of BigBang and The National Bank (2004–present). Eilertsen, who was born in Skotselv, also participates in the bands Lester, Needlepoint and Elephant9.

Kjetil Traavik Møster is a Norwegian jazz musician and composer, known from bands like The Core, Ultralyd, Brat, Zanussi 5, and performance with Chick Corea at Moldejazz 2000, later released on CD. Food is an experimental jazz band initiated by British woodwind multi-instrumentalist Iain Ballamy and Norwegian percussionist Thomas Strønen after a coincidental meeting first in Trondheim, Norway and later in Molde in 1997.
