The city of Baghdad is divided into 89 administrative neighbourhoods, gathered into nine administrative districts.
Baghdad is the capital and largest city of Iraq. Situated on the Tigris, it is part of the Baghdad Governorate and is located near the Diyala River. With a population variously estimated at 6 or over 7 million, Baghdad forms 22% of Iraq's total population. In comparison to its large population, the city has a small area at just 673 square kilometers. It is the second-largest city in the Arab world after Cairo, and the second-largest city in West Asia after Tehran. Baghdad is historically known as a global cultural hub.
Baghdad Governorate, also known as the Baghdad Province, is the capital governorate of Iraq. It includes the capital Baghdad as well as the surrounding metropolitan area. The governorate is one of two small provinces of all 19 in Iraq into which the country divides entirely, yet by a margin of almost three-to-one, the most populous.
Kadhimiya or Kadhimayn (ٱلْكَاظِمَيْن) is a northern neighbourhood of the city of Baghdad, Iraq. It is about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) from the city's center, on the west bank of the Tigris. 'Kadhimiya' is also the name of one of nine administrative districts in Baghdad. As the place of al-Kadhimiya Mosque, even before its inception into the urban area of Baghdad, it is regarded as a holy city by Twelver Shia muslims.
Abu Road is a city and sub-district in Sirohi district of Rajasthan state in western India, lies on the bank of West Banas River. It is the tehsil and sub-district headquarters and the largest city in Sirohi District in terms of area and population. Its railway station is an important stop on the main Indian Railways line between New Delhi and Ahmedabad and registers an impressive growth in passenger traffic and revenue generation for North Western Railway zone. The popular hill station, Mount Abu is 27 km up the hill from Abu Road.

Al-Mansour or just Mansour is one of the nine administrative districts in Baghdad, Iraq. It is in western Baghdad and is bounded on the east by al-Karkh district in central Baghdad, to the north by Kadhimiya, to the west by Baghdad International Airport, and to the south by Baghdad Airport Road, on the other side of which is al-Rashid district.
New Baghdad or Baghdad Al-Jidida is one of nine administrative districts in Baghdad, Iraq. This district has nine Neighborhood Advisory Councils (NAC) and a District Advisory Council. It is located east of the city center. This district was renamed 9 Nissan or Tisa Nissan. Nissan is the word for April, although most Iraqis do not yet use that name. It is also known as 7 Nissan.
There are nine administrative districts in the city of Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, that correspond to the nine district advisory councils. It is one of the old quarters of Baghdad, situated in the heart of the city, The Rasafa side is one of the main parts of the city of Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. Along with Karkh, it forms the essential components of the city, with the Tigris River flowing between them. The Rasafa side is known for its numerous cultural and historical landmarks, including the Old City, the Republic Bridge, and various markets and residential areas. and is home to a number of public squares housing important monumental artworks.
Al Rasheed or Al Rashid is one of the nine administrative districts in Baghdad, Iraq. It is in southern Baghdad, on the western side of the Tigris River. Mansour district is to the north of the western half of the district, on the other side of the Baghdad Airport Road.
Dora is a neighborhood in Al Rashid administrative district, southern Baghdad, Iraq. Before the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq, it was home to the city's largest concentration of Christian Assyrians, as well as Mandaeans and Muslim families.
Radwaniyah Palace is a palace in Baghdad, Iraq, which is the official residence of the President of Iraq and also functioned as a presidential resort for the late Iraqi president Saddam Hussein until it was taken over by Coalition forces during the 2003 US-led invasion of Iraq. Hayy Al-A'amel is a neighborhood (hayy) in the Al Rashid district of southwestern Baghdad, Iraq. Its northern boundary is the Baghdad Airport Road, the neighborhood of Baiyaa is to the east and Al-Jihad to the west.
Abu Disher, also known as Abu Disheer, is a neighborhood of Baghdad, Iraq. It is located in the eastern portion of the Al Rashid district, south of Dora, along the Hillad Road.
Mansour is a neighborhood within Mansour district, Baghdad. It is numbered the 62nd neighbourhood of Baghdad. It is the home of many schools, shops and the Baghdad Zoo. Mansour is located 3 miles (4.8 km) from the Green Zone, and was once home to diplomats and other politicals.
From 15 to 21 May 2013, a series of deadly bombings and shootings struck the central and northern parts of Iraq, with a few incidents occurring in towns in the south and far west as well. The attacks killed at least 449 people and left 732 others injured in one of the deadliest outbreaks of violence in years.
In May 2016, the Islamic State conducted a series of bombing attacks in and around Shia neighbourhoods in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, killing and wounding hundreds. According to ISIL, attacks were aimed at Shia fighters.
