The city of Baghdad is divided into 89 administrative neighbourhoods, gathered into nine administrative districts.

Baghdad is the capital of Iraq and the second-largest city in the Arab world. Located along the Tigris River, the city was founded in the 8th century and became the capital of the Abbasid Caliphate. Within a short time of its inception, Baghdad evolved into a significant cultural, commercial, and intellectual center of the Muslim world. This, in addition to housing several key academic institutions, including the House of Wisdom, as well as hosting a multiethnic and multireligious environment, garnered the city a worldwide reputation as the "Centre of Learning".
Baghdad Governorate, also known as the Baghdad Province, is the capital governorate of Iraq. It includes the capital Baghdad as well as the surrounding metropolitan area. The governorate is the smallest of the 18 provinces of Iraq but the most populous.
Al-Kāẓimiyyah or al-Kāẓimayn (الكاظمين) is a northern neighbourhood of the city of Baghdad, Iraq. It is about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) from the city's center, on the west bank of the Tigris. Al-Kāẓimiyyah is also the name of one of nine administrative districts in Baghdad. Being the place of Masjid al-Kāẓimayn, even before its inception into the urban area of Baghdad, it is regarded as a holy city by Twelver Shi'ites.
Iraq's 18 governorates are subdivided into 120 districts (kaza). The district usually bears the same name as the district capital.

Al Mansour is one of the nine administrative districts in Baghdad, Iraq. It is in western Baghdad and is bounded on the east by Karkh district in central Baghdad, to the north by Kadhimiya, to the west by Baghdad International Airport, and to the south by Baghdad Airport Road, on the other side of which is Al Rashid district.
New Baghdad or Baghdad Al-Jidida is one of nine administrative districts in Baghdad, Iraq. This district has nine Neighborhood Advisory Councils (NAC) and a District Advisory Council. It is located east of the city center. This district was renamed 9 Nissan or Tisa Nissan. Nissan is the word for April, although most Iraqis do not yet use that name. It is also known as 7 Nissan.
There are nine administrative districts in the city of Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, that correspond to the nine district advisory councils. The Baghdad Security Plan used these nine districts as the nine security districts. These were formed in 2003 following the 2003 Invasion of Iraq. District council members are selected from the 89 Neighborhood Advisory Councils in Baghdad. The number of neighborhood representatives on the district council is based upon the community's population. The Baghdad City Advisory Council consists of 37 members drawn from the district councils and is also based on the district's population.
Al Rasheed or Al Rashid is one of the nine administrative districts in Baghdad, Iraq. It is in southern Baghdad, on the western side of the Tigris River. Mansour district is to the north of the western half of the district, on the other side of the Baghdad Airport Road.
Ghazaliya is a neighborhood in the western outskirts of Baghdad, Iraq, in the city's Mansour district. To the north of Ghazaliya is the neighborhood of Al-Shu'ala, to the east is Al-Adel, to the south is Al Khadhraa, and to the west is Abu Ghraib. It is a working-class neighborhood of about 100,000 residents. Ghazaliya is situated around six major streets that all end at farms that formerly belonged to Uday Hussein, the son of Saddam Hussein.
Jihad is a neighborhood (hayy) in the Al Rashid district in western Baghdad, Iraq. To the north is Al-A'amiriya (Amiriya) on the other side of Baghdad Airport Road, and to the east is Al-A'amel.
Al-Saydiya (Arabic:السيدية) is a neighborhood in the Al Rashid district of southwestern Baghdad, Iraq. Baiyaa is to the north and Dora to the east.
Hayy Al-A'amel is a neighborhood (hayy) in the Al Rashid district of southwestern Baghdad, Iraq. Its northern boundary is the Baghdad Airport Road, the neighborhood of Baiyaa is to the east and Al-Jihad to the west.
Abu Disher, also known as Abu Disheer, is a neighborhood of Baghdad, Iraq. It is located in the eastern portion of the Al Rashid district, south of Dora, along the Hillad Road.
The Baghdad Metro is a proposed rapid transit network for the Iraqi city of Baghdad. Construction is expected to start in 2020.
Mansour neighbourhood with Dragh and Baghdad International Fair, is the 63rd neighborhood within Mansour district, Baghdad. It is located in northwest Baghdad, which for decades held bakeries, shops, and private clubs. Mansour is located 3 miles (4.8 km) from the Green Zone, and was once home to diplomats and professionals who were wealthy enough to hire guards. By 2007, Mansour had become unsafe as car bombings, kidnappings and killings by Sunni extremists became common. By 2009 the neighborhood had become somewhat safer, with residents returning to their daily routines.
On 17 May 2016, a series of bombings by the terrorist group Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant hit the Iraqi capital city of Baghdad. At least 101 people were killed and 194 injured.
