Dutch hip hop or Nederhop ("Netherhop"), is hip hop / rap music created by Dutch speaking musicians in the Netherlands and Flanders (Belgium). Although the first Dutch speaking rappers in Europe typically worked in English, this began to change after 1986, at first in an underground scene. The Osdorp Posse were the first to record and release Dutch language hip hop singles, from around 1990, but it took until 1995 for a Dutch language rap single to achieve a main chart top ten hit: Spraakwater by Extince.
Edge of Sanity was a Swedish death metal band that, alongside Opeth, is commonly regarded as being the first to fuse extreme metal styles like death and black metal with progressive rock. The group was founded by Dan Swanö in 1989 and ended in 2003.
Thanatos is a Dutch extreme metal band. With a history dating back to 1984, they are the oldest death metal band from the Netherlands. Their second album, Realm of Ecstasy, received positive marks from Dutch music magazine Oor and various international magazines for its solid compositions and challenging arrangements. After enduring constantly changing line-ups and problems with distribution, promotion, and even ownership of the rights to the second album, Thanatos folded in 1992, the final straw being the cancellation of a tour with Cannibal Corpse and Exhorder.
Officium Triste is a death-doom band from Rotterdam, The Netherlands. They refer to their style often as "Rotterdoom". It is largely inspired by bands like My Dying Bride and early Anathema, but the last album is slower and more melodic. The vocals are mostly intelligible death grunts but with occasional clean vocals. Their home-venue is Baroeg in Rotterdam.
Consolation is the name of a former Dutch death metal/grindcore band from the Zaanstreek that formed in 1989. They released three full-length albums through Displeased Records and were called the Dutch "Gods of Grind"; at their peak, in the late 1990s, they were one of the highest rated metal bands in the Netherlands, according to Dutch metal magazine Aardschok.
Anders Björler is a Swedish musician, composer and film director. He is best known as the lead guitarist in the metal bands The Haunted and At the Gates, alongside his bass-playing twin brother Jonas Björler.
Gorefest was a Dutch death metal band from Goes in Zeeland. It was founded in 1989 by Jan-Chris de Koeijer, Frank Harthoorn, Alex van Schaik and Marc Hoogendoorn.
The Osdorp Posse, founded in Amsterdam, Netherlands, in 1989, was one of the first groups to make rap music in Dutch. All four members are related to each other. Influenced by gangsta rap, they made a name for themselves by combining the music of hardcore hip hop with Dutch lyrics featuring literal translations of American slang. Initially appreciated only in the Dutch underground scene, they achieved commercial success and exerted great influence on the Dutch hip hop scene.
Displeased Records was a Dutch independent record label, founded by Lars Eikema and Ron Veltkamp. The label had many Dutch and other extreme metal bands on its roster, but has also re-released albums by Agathocles, Cryptopsy, Infernäl Mäjesty, Sadus, Toxik and Whiplash. The label also had a large mail order division called Discorder.com.

Bloodcult is an EP by the Dutch death metal band Nembrionic. It was released in 1997 as a split CD with Consolation's debut album Beautyfilth by Displeased Records. The first two tracks are demos of incomplete songs of the Incomplete album. Three of the last four tracks are from the Themes of an Occult Theory EP, which was released under the name Nembrionic Hammerdeath. The song "Bloodcult" is exclusively on this release.
Immortal Souls is a melodic death metal band from Kokkola, Finland, formed in 1991. They released a split album and their debut on Little Rose Productions in the late 1990s and early 2000s. In 2002, Immortal Souls signed with Dutch label Fear Dark which released their second and third album as well as a compilation. They have performed at Tuska Open Air Metal Festival. Their musical style is characterized by their use of melodic guitar riffs and singing which shifts between growls and shouting. Their music has been called winter metal since Immortal Souls utilizes frosty metaphors in their lyrics and usually creates a cold, wintry atmosphere. The album Wintereich was released in 2007 in Europe on Dark Balance and in the USA through Facedown Records.
Briljant, Hard en Geslepen is an album by the Dutch death metal band Nembrionic who wrote and recorded all the music, and the Dutch hip hop band Osdorp Posse who contributed the lyrics and vocals.
Themes on an Occult Theory is an EP by Nembrionic Hammerdeath. It was released in 1992 by Displeased Records. It was released only on vinyl and the sleeve came in three different colours: purple, red and cyan. Three of the four tracks were later included on the Bloodcult EP. It sold about 1700 copies

Guitarist and keyboardist, Tommy Talamanca, has been a constant feature throughout the band's existence, as the main composer and co-producer of their musical output. Trevor Nadir has been the main vocalist of the band since 1996.
