Andrea Arnold, OBE is an English filmmaker and former actor. She won an Academy Award for her short film Wasp in 2005. Her feature films include Red Road (2006), Fish Tank (2009), and American Honey (2016), all of which have won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. Arnold has also directed four episodes of the Amazon Prime Video series Transparent, as well as all seven episodes of the second season of the HBO series Big Little Lies. Her documentary Cow premiered at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival and played at the 2021 Telluride Film Festival.

Sound City is a 2013 American documentary film produced and directed by Dave Grohl, in his directorial debut, about the history of recording studio Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, Los Angeles. Grohl was inspired to create the documentary after he purchased several items from the studio, including the Neve 8028 analog mixing console, when it closed as a commercial studio in 2011. The film discusses the historic importance of Sound City Studios and its Neve 8028 console to the world of rock music, along with other recording genres. Sound City debuted on January 18, 2013, to positive reviews, with a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score. The film engendered a record, Sound City: Real to Reel, which received two Grammy Awards.

Letters from Pyongyang is a 2012 documentary short film about the filmmaker's search for lost relatives in North Korea, directed by Korean-Canadian filmmaker Jason Lee. The film premiered at the Rencontres internationales du documentaire de Montreal also known by its acronym RIDM on 13 November 2012. The international premiere in Doha, Qatar during the 9th Aljazeera International Documentary Film Festival garnered the film the top juried prize, the Aljazeera Golden Award, in the short film category.
Alexander Tuschinski is a German film director, film producer, writer, actor and musician. Internationally, he is best known for his feature films which have won awards at various film festivals. His documentary "Caligari in the Desert" was a submission to the 91st Academy Awards. Additionally, he is known for his academic writing on the early works of Tinto Brass. Notably, his research into, and interest in, Brass's work on Caligula was examined in his feature documentary Mission: Caligula. At the documentary's premiere, Penthouse announced plans to work with Tuschinski on a new cut of Caligula that aims to restore and finish Brass's original version of the film. Though 85 minutes of his original workprint will be used, it remains unclear if Brass himself will be involved in finishing the film's edit.
