New Boots is the second album by Irish singer-songwriter, Wallis Bird. The album was released on 24 July 2009 in Ireland [1] under the Rubyworks label and later received a wider European release in March 2010 in Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Belgium. The album was released in France in April 2010. [2] It released outside Ireland through Columbia Records.

Promotion

Bird appeared on RTÉ Two's Band from School [3] in December 2009. She also appeared on Austrian music channel Go TV to promote the album on 15 March 2010. [4]

New Boots Tour

Bird toured Ireland, France and Belgium extensively throughout 2009. In early 2010 she announced live tour dates for other parts of Europe including Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Awards

New Boots won Wallis Bird the title of Best Irish Female Artist at the 2010 Meteor Ireland Music Awards.

"Save Your Kisses for Me" was the winning song of the Eurovision Song Contest 1976, performed for the United Kingdom by Brotherhood of Man in The Hague, Netherlands. The lyrics and music were written by Tony Hiller, Lee Sheriden, and Martin Lee, the latter two being members of the band. The song became a worldwide hit, reaching No. 1 in many countries, including the UK, where it became the biggest-selling song of the year. Overall, it remains one of the biggest-selling Eurovision winners ever, and the biggest such seller in the UK. The song's melody bears a strong resemblance to "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree", released by Tony Orlando & Dawn in 1973. The Brotherhood of Man covered that song on an album in 2006.

Barren Cross

Barren Cross was an American Christian metal band that was formed in Los Angeles, California in 1983 by high school friends Ray Parris (guitar) and Steve Whitaker (drums). Street Sweeper Social Club American rap/rock supergroup

Street Sweeper Social Club is an American rap rock supergroup, formed in Los Angeles, California in 2006. The band primarily consists of guitarist Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and vocalist and emcee Boots Riley of The Coup. The band had been testing songs out during Tom Morello's Nightwatchman tour and released an album on June 16, 2009. Stanton Moore drummed for the group for the recording of the album although he did not join the band for the following tour. Street Sweeper Social Club opened for Nine Inch Nails and Jane's Addiction in May 2009. Street Sweeper Social Club describes itself as "more than a band, it's a social club." Their 2010 EP The Ghetto Blaster EP includes covers of M.I.A. "Paper Planes" and LL Cool J's "Mama Said Knock You Out".

Wear My Kiss 2010 single by Sugababes

"Wear My Kiss" is a song by British girl group Sugababes, released as the third and final single from their seventh studio album, Sweet 7 (2010). It also serves as the final official single from the band before they disbanded in 2011. It was written by Fernando Garibay, Bruno Mars, Philip Lawrence, and The Jackie Boyz, and produced by Garibay. The song's development began while the Sugababes travelled to the United States during April 2009, in which they collaborated with various high-profile producers. Lungs Tour

The Lungs Tour was the first major headlining concert tour by English indie rock band Florence and the Machine, in support of their debut album, Lungs. In July 2009, upon the release of their debut album, Florence and the Machine announced a six-date concert tour of the United Kingdom. Six soon became nine as three more dates were added. Following the success of the UK tour, with most tickets selling out, mainland European dates were added in countries such as the Netherlands and Italy, where the album also achieved moderate success. The tour is also going to North America and a one-off show in Tokyo. In an interview with Nick Grimshaw, Florence mentioned that her tour was going to be brought to Australia. They also supported U2 on their U2 360° Tour in 2011. After the continued success of Lungs and its new UK chart peak of number 1, Florence Welch announced another nine-date UK and Ireland tour, entitled 'The Cosmic Love Tour'. Florence and The Machine's official website held an exclusive fan pre-sale event on 27 January 2010 and tickets were fully released on Friday, 29 January at 9 a.m. All tickets, for all dates officially sold out.

In January 2008, Leonard Cohen announced a long-anticipated world tour. It would be Cohen's first tour in 15 years.
