New El Marg station is a station on Cairo Metro Line 1, located in the El Marg district [1] of northern Cairo, Egypt. It serves as the northeastern terminus of Line 1 and was built to ease congestion at the original El Marg station.
New El Marg station officially opened on 1999 [2] . It was constructed as part of a project to separate terminal operations from the older El Marg station [3] and improve passenger flow, as the northern end of Line 1 experienced heavy overcrowding.
The station is elevated and features two side platforms serving two tracks. It was designed to handle higher passenger capacity than the original El Marg [4] station and includes improved access facilities.
The station is situated in the El Marg [5] area, a densely populated residential district. It serves as a major transport hub in the area and is connected to various microbus and public bus routes.
