The New York Bucks are an independent American professional baseball team based in Canton, New York. They are a member of the Empire Professional Baseball League. Beginning in the 2018 season, the Bucks will play their home games at the Roos House Athletic Center at SUNY Canton.
The Watertown Bucks were an independent American professional baseball team based in Watertown, New York. The Bucks played in the newly formed Empire Professional Baseball League, which is not affiliated with Major League Baseball, during its inaugural season. The Bucks played in the North Country Baseball League in 2015. They were previously a member of the short-lived East Coast Baseball League.
In 2015, the Bucks were set to be a member of the East Coast Baseball League. [1] The team was owned by Bruce Zicari and was to be managed by Kelly Stinnett. General Manager and NCBL Executive was Matt McClusky. [2] Prior to the planned start of the ECBL's first season the American teams, including the Bucks, pulled out of the league to form the North Country Baseball League. [3]
The Bucks posted a record of 16-23 in the start-up league. [4] The Bucks promoted no players to the higher Independent Leagues. [5] The team drew 9,250 fans, for an average of 237 a game. [6] The team played its first game against the Road City Explorers on Memorial Day. [7]
The Bucks were announced to play in the newly formed Empire Professional Baseball League. [8] The Bucks announced Simon Walters as manager January 5. [9] The Empire League named Kyle Scodo as general manager and operations manager of the Watertown Bucks on January 12. [10] It was reported that Bruce Zicari would no longer own the team in 2016, and that it would be owned by the league. [11] On January 26, Watertown Superintendent of Park and Recreation, Erin Gardner, endorsed the Empire League's offer to sign an franchise agreement. [12] The Empire League Director stated with regards to the team that league will have "all the money in place before the season ever begins". [13] After finishing the season, the Bucks lost their lease for the stadium and ceased operations. [14]
The franchise was revived for the 2018 season as the league expanded from 4 to 6 teams. The revived team was originally to be based in Georgetown, Delaware, but a reworking of the schedule to accommodate playing games in Puerto Rico resulted in the franchise being based in Canton, New York, instead. [15] [16] Finishing with a league-leading 32-16 record, [17] the Bucks advanced to the postseason, losing the championship series to the Puerto Rico Islanders two games to one. [18]
The 2019 Bucks relocated to Plattsburgh [19] and finished last in the league [20] with a 3-29 record. [21]

Many franchises have come and gone including in locations such as Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Connecticut as well as Quebec, Montreal, and Ontario in Canada. In 2018 the league included six teams: the Glens Falls Greenjackets, Hudson Valley Mountaineers, Plattsburgh North Stars, Seaway Valley Venom, Tri City Spartans, and Utica Yard Dogs.
Theodore Rodger Kubiak is an American former professional baseball player and manager. He played as an infielder in Major League Baseball from 1967 through 1976, most notably as a member of the Oakland Athletics dynasty that won three consecutive World Series championships between 1972 and 1974. He also played for the Milwaukee Brewers, St. Louis Cardinals, Texas Rangers, and the San Diego Padres.

The Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) is a professional ice hockey independent minor league with teams in the Midwestern, Southern, and Northeastern United States. The Watertown Wolves are a minor professional hockey team in the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) based in Watertown, New York, and play home games at the Watertown Municipal Arena. The team was on hiatus during the 2015–16 season while renovations at the Watertown Municipal Arena were completed and then returned for the 2016–17 season. With a history dating to 2010, the Wolves are the last original franchise in the FPHL.

The team is the oldest active semi-pro football team in the United States, and can trace its history to 1896, although the Professional Football Researchers Association (PFRA) claimed it was founded as an Athletic Club in 1899. Because of this, the team has the second most wins (661) and most games played (1,022) of any semi-professional team. They have an overall record of 661-318-43 for a win percentage of .647. The Red & Black have their own showcase in the Pro Football Hall of Fame as being the oldest semi-pro team in the nation.
The Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) is a 16-team collegiate summer baseball league founded in 2010. As of 2022, all teams are within New York (state). All players in the league must have NCAA eligibility remaining in order to participate. Players are not paid so as to maintain their college eligibility. Each team plays an eight-week, 48 game schedule from June to August with playoffs in early August.

The Watertown Athletics were a minor league baseball team based in Watertown, New York.. The Athletics played from 1946 to 1951 and were preceded by the 1936 Watertown Greys and an 1888 Watertown team. Watertown teams played as members of the 1888 Eastern International League, 1936 Canadian–American League and Border League from 1946 to 1951. The Watertown Grays and Athletics hosted home games at Duffy Fairgrounds. Watertown was a minor league affiliate of the Boston Bees in 1936.
The Plattsburgh Brewers were a minor league baseball team based in Plattsburgh, New York. Between 1895 and 1907, Plattsburgh teams played as members of the 1895 Eastern International League, 1896 International League, Northern New York League (1901–1905), 1906 Independent Northern League, 1907 New Hampshire State League (1907) and 1907 Vermont State League, winning the 1901 league championship. Plattsburgh hosted minor league home games at Clinton Park.
The new 2018 team called the Delaware Bucks that was supposed to play in Georgetown (DE) is now called the New York Bucks and based in the far northern New York State town of Canton.
The Bucks, who were originally slated to play their home games at the Sports at the Beach complex in Georgetown, Delaware, will call SUNY Canton home.
