The network serves as the replacement of the main terrestrial ABS-CBN network after ceasing its free-to-air broadcast operations as ordered by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) on May 5, 2020 due to the expiration of its legislative franchise. It carries most of programs that ABS-CBN aired prior to the shutdown.

It is the longest running Sunday noontime variety show after surpassing rival network GMA's GMA Supershow’s record of nearly two decades. In October 2015, ASAP became the first live entertainment program in the Philippines to be broadcast in true high-definition picture, the other being a sports program.

It was available for a free-trial basis from July 30, 2018 to May 5, 2020, alongside O Shopping, Movie Central, Jeepney TV, and Myx. On June 1, 2020, the channel temporarily took over the channel space of S+A.
