Nic Shearer (born 16 April 2003) is a New Zealand rugby union player, who plays for the Highlanders and Southland. His preferred position is halfback. [1]
Shearer attended Christchurch Boys' High School where he played rugby for the first XV. [2] After leaving school, he joined up with the Crusaders academy, representing their junior side in 2021, [3] and their U20 side in 2023. [4] He represented New Zealand U19s in 2022, [5] before being named in the New Zealand U20 squad in 2023. [6]
Shearer has represented Southland in the National Provincial Championship since 2025, being named in the squad for the 2025 Bunnings NPC. [7] The previous year he had represented Canterbury in the competition, before moving south. [8] He was named in the Highlanders wider training group for the 2026 Super Rugby Pacific season. [9]
