Paula Latu (born 14 February 1996) is a Tongan rugby union player, who plays as a prop for Southland in New Zealand's domestic National Provincial Championship competition. [1] He has represented Tonga internationally. [2]
One of 12 siblings, Latu hails from the village of Mataika and is an elder brother of New Zealand under-20s and Tonga international Penikolo Latu, moving with his family at age 14 to New Zealand. He attended Gisborne Boys' High School. [3]
A tighthead prop with Southland, Latu gained his first cap for Tonga against Canada in Nukuʻalofa in 2023 and made Toutai Kefu's squad for the 2023 Rugby World Cup, where he appeared in the final group match against Romania. [4] [5]
Quinton James Cowan is a New Zealand rugby union footballer. He first played for the All Blacks – New Zealand's national team – during the 2004 tour to the United Kingdom and France, and played his last Test match for the side during the 2011 Rugby World Cup. Cowan was born in Gore and attended Gore High School. After he left school a strong season for the Mataura Rugby Club saw him selected to play provincially for the Southland Stags in 2000. He was selected for the Highlanders in the 2003 Super 12 season, and continued to play for both the Highlanders and Southland until signing for Gloucester in 2012.
Nili Latu, playing name of Otenili Langilangi is a Tongan rugby union footballer. In 2018, Latu left Newcastle Falcons after helping Falcons achieve 4th in the Aviva Premiership, the highest finish in 20 years. He moved to Japan to continue playing rugby.
