Nicholas Westaway (born 20 January 1989) is an Australian actor and singer. From 2012 until 2016, he starred as Kyle Braxton in the soap opera Home and Away .

Early life

Westaway was raised in Margaret River. He has two brothers. Westaway attended Margaret River Senior High School, the Outloud Dance Academy and performed with the Margaret River Theatre Group. He also played football for the Margaret River Hawks. [2] Westaway deferred a sports science degree at the University of Western Australia, [3] and later moved to Perth to attend the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). [4]

Career

Westaway has appeared in three short films: Running: A Western Australia Short, Happy Haven and Bonsai. [5] In 2012, Westaway relocated to Sydney after successfully auditioning for the role of Kyle Braxton in Home and Away . [6] [5] He also appeared in the feature length spin-off Home and Away: An Eye for an Eye in 2015. [7] Westaway decided to leave the show after almost four years, and he made his final appearance on 21 April 2016. [8] He later reprised the role for two further specials: Home and Away: Revenge and Home and Away: All or Nothing. [9]

Westaway stars as Samantha Jade's love interest in the music video for her single "Always". [5] In 2017, Westaway joined the cast of science fiction film, Neurogenesis, along with his former Home and Away co-stars Marlo Kelly and Darcey Wilson.[ citation needed ] He also appears as American musician Xavier in Dance Academy: The Movie , [10] and has filmed an appearance in television series We Were Tomorrow. [11]

Westaway launched into his theatre career when taking up the main role of Prince Aladdin in the 2019 Christmas pantomime ‘Aladdin’ by Enchanted Entertainment at the Tyne Theatre & Opera House in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK.

Kyle Braxton was a fictional character from the Australian Channel Seven soap opera Home and Away, played by Nic Westaway. Kyle debuted on-screen during the episode airing on 8 August 2012. The actor was nervous about joining the established Braxton family because of their popularity with viewers. Kyle is a "damaged individual" who grew up without much love. His father, Danny Braxton walked out on him and his mother died. He was placed into foster care. Kyle developed a vendetta against his half-brothers and when Casey Braxton kills Danny, Kyle kidnaps Casey and leaves him for dead in the Australian desert. Kyle moves to Summer Bay to begin a new life and seeks his brother's acceptance. But he falls in love with Casey's girlfriend Tamara Kingsley. Westaway has revealed that he developed a unique "death stare" for Kyle to give other characters.

Home and Away: An Eye for an Eye is a television film and spin-off of the Australian soap opera Home and Away. It was written by Sarah Walker and directed by Arnie Custo. It premiered on 9 December 2015 on streaming service Presto, following the season finale of Home and Away. An Eye for an Eye was the first local production commissioned for Presto. The idea for a special was suggested during talks about a joint venture between Presto and the Seven Network. The network's CEO hoped An Eye for an Eye would keep regular viewers of Home and Away interested while the show was off air, while also attracting a new audience to Presto.

In 2013, Sveen appeared as the freed slave Chadara in Spartacus: Vengeance. Sveen also joined the main cast of Home and Away as Ricky Sharpe. Katarina Chapman is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Home and Away, played by Pia Miller. The actress joined the cast in July 2014 following a successful audition. She began filming during the following month, and initially commuted from her home in Melbourne to the set in Sydney. Home and Away marked Miller's first major acting role. She made her first appearance during the episode broadcast on 5 February 2015. The actress was drawn to the part after reading that her character was a strong and resilient policewoman, who was not sexualised in any way. Miller wanted viewers to focus on Kat and not her appearance. The actress filmed her final scenes in August 2017 and Kat was killed off in the season finale, broadcast on 18 December 2017.

Home and Away: All or Nothing is a television film and spin-off of the Australian soap opera Home and Away. It was written by Louise Bowes and directed by Arnie Custo. All or Nothing premiered on 26 January 2017 on Foxtel on Demand, Foxtel Play and Presto. It was commissioned along with Home and Away: Revenge following the success of the 2015 telefilm Home and Away: An Eye for an Eye, which broke Presto streaming records. All or Nothing is a sequel to Revenge and like the previous specials it features current and returning Home and Away cast members.
