Nick Hamman is a South African radio DJ. He is most well known for being a DJ on 5FM and host of the Hamman Time weekday show and 5Drive.

Early life and education

Nick Hamman was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa. He studied politics and philosophy at Stellenbosch University in the Western Cape. [1] [2]

Career

Nick's career in broadcasting began in 2011 at Stellenbosch's community radio station MFM 92.6, where he as the host of the Afternoon Drive Show. During his time at MFM 92.6, he was both the host of the Afternoon Drive show as well as the station's technical producer. In 2012, he won an MTN Radio Award for Best Afternoon Campus Drive Show in South Africa. [3] In the same year, he was the winner of Good Hope FM’s campus DJ search. [4]

In 2014, he became one of the youngest presenters ever to host of a morning show on 5FM where he hosts mid-morning show, Hamman Time. [4]

In 2016, he walked 330km between Johannesburg and Polokwane on a two week journey that was broadcast live on radio. He has also completed two Heritage Tours where he took to the road during the month of September in 2017 and 2018, each time driving over 10 000 km to document the stories of people and places around the country. In 2018, he was featured on the SABC 3 lifestyle television programme, Top Billing . [7] Later that year he performed at the Zafiko Music Festival in Durban. [8] He has also performed at the Electric Summer Music Festival in Cape Town alongside the UK-based band, Clean Bandit and local musicians such as Goldfish and DJ Fresh. [9]

In May 2020, Nick, who had previously hosted the Hamman Time show during the mid-morning slot, took over as the host of 5Drive. [10]

Alan Khan

Alan Khan is a media and radio personality in South Africa. His talk show, Walk the Talk with Alan Khan on Lotus FM, won "Best News and Actuality Talk Show PBS" at the 2017 Liberty South African Radio Awards. He was inducted into the South African Radio Hall of Fame in 2015. In 2020, Khan was named as one of the Top 5 "Most Bankable Radio Broadcasters" in South Africa.

Radio 702 South African radio station

702 is a commercial FM radio station based in Johannesburg, South Africa, broadcasting on FM 92.7 and FM 106 to the greater Gauteng province. The station is also webcast via its website. It claims to be Johannesburg's number one news and talk station, offering news, sport, business and actuality programming and plenty of phone-in debates.

Amore Bekker

Hetta Amor (Amore) Bekker is a South African radio personality, author, MC and columnist. She was the host of Tjailatyd, an Afrikaans radio show broadcast by RSG the Afrikaans Radio Service of the SABC. As author Bekker published her first cookbook (Tjailaresepte) in June 2010. As of July 2010 she also writes a column for the Afrikaans-language women's magazine Finesse.

Velvet Sky (airline)

Velvet Sky was a low cost airline based at the King Shaka International Airport near Durban, South Africa. The airline launched in March 2011. It ceased operations in February 2012 and was liquidated in May 2012.

Tebogo Jacko Magubane also known by his stage name Magubane da Franchiz is a South African house DJ and Music Producer radio producer currently working for Munghana Lonene FM as the station's Programmes Manager.

Kwesta South African rapper

Senzo Brikka Vilakazi known professionally as Kwesta, is a South African rapper and songwriter. Born in Katlehong, Gauteng, a township also known as "K1". In 2003, at the age of 15, he and his friends formed a rap group Ghetto Fellaz which then changed to The Juvenylz, same year. He is currently signed to his own independent media company known as RapLyf Records with co-founder Kid X.

Thando Thabethe South African actress and radio personality

Thando Thabethe is a South African actress, TV personality and Radio DJ who was the presenter for the television show Thando Bares All on channel TLC and current drive time host on 947. She is Nivea's first brand ambassador in Africa. In 2019, Thando was named one of Forbes Africa's 30 Under 30. She is also the host of 947 Drive With Thando.

Gareth Rhydal Cliff is a South African radio and television personality. He began his professional radio career at 702, and later became the host of the breakfast show on 5FM. During his career at 5FM, his show included a feature called The Hollywood Report with Jen Su.

Busiswa Gqulu, known mononymously as Busiswa or Busi, is a South African singer-songwriter and poet. Born in Mthatha, Eastern Cape, South Africa, she gained public recognition for her feature on DJ Zinhle's song, "My Name Is", after being discovered by Kalawa Jazmee's CEO Oskido.
