Nicholas G. Stone (born 19 September 1972) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was the first person to be charged under the AFL's anti-doping code with recreational drug. [1]

Stone, who was a member of Claremont's 1996 premiership team, was already 24 when he made his AFL debut. [2] Used primarily used as a half back by West Coast, he made 14 appearances in both of his first two seasons. [3] He suffered from a groin injury in 1999 and played just two games, one of which was a qualifying final, making it the third year in a row he had appeared in a finals series. [4]

After adding just three further games in 2000, Stone tested positive to amphetamine and methamphetamine towards the end of the season. Stone was de-listed by the Eagles three weeks prior to his date with the AFL Tribunal but still attended and maintained that his drink had been spiked. [5] Despite the tribunal accepting his explanation he was still suspended for six weeks. [6] Even if he hadn't been de-listed, he would not have missed any games because the suspension began immediately and would have been served during October and November after the season had ended. Stone would continue playing at Claremont until he retired in 2002.

After winning the Simpson Medal as the best player in the grand final in his first season, Cox was recruited to West Coast with the 28th pick in the 2000 Rookie Draft. He made his senior debut during the 2001 season, and played in West Coast's 2006 premiership side. A ruckman, Cox was named in the All-Australian team six times, including four seasons consecutively from 2005 to 2008, and was considered the outstanding player in his position throughout much of his career. He won West Coast's best and fairest award in 2008, and finished in the top three on four other occasions. Cox retired at the end of the 2014 season, finishing his career with 290 games, a club record, and 169 goals.

Michael Strickland Gardiner is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the West Coast Eagles and the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Originally from Albany, Western Australia, Gardiner played for the Claremont Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) before being drafted by West Coast with the number-one pick in the 1996 National Draft. He made his debut for the club in 1997, and over the next seasons replaced Ryan Turnbull as the club's first-choice ruckman. After being named in the All-Australian team in 2003, Gardiner missed most of the 2004 season due to injury. Loss of form and a series of off-field controversies led to him being traded to St Kilda at the end of the 2006 season, having played total of 129 games for West Coast. During his time at St Kilda, Gardiner added another 52 games, including St Kilda's 2009 and 2010 losing grand final teams, before retiring at the end of the 2011 season.
