Nico Gleirscher (born 17 March 1997) is an Austrian luger.
He started competing for the Austria national team in the various youth categories, finishing second overall in the Youth World Cup in 2013/14 and third in the Junior World Cup in 2014/15. He also won four medals at the World Junior Championships , including a silver in singles in Sigulda 2017 and three bronze medals (singles in Lillehammer 2015, team event in Winterberg 2016 and in Sigulda 2017). He also won four medals at the European Junior Championships (one silver and three bronze medals).
He made his World Cup debut in the 2015/16 season, on 29 November 2015, in Igls, finishing the singles event and in 19th position. He got his first podium on 26 November 2017 in Winterberg in the single sprint, where he finished third, and his first win on 3 January 2021 in Schönau am Königssee, where he won the team race together with Madeleine Egle, Thomas Steu and Lorenz Koller. Overall, as his best result, he placed 17th in 2017/18. [1]
He is the son of Gerhard and is the brother of David, who have also been successful elite lugers.
On 29 January 2021, he became the world champion in the sprint classification, ahead of Semen Pavlichenko, and his brother David came third.
Wilfried Huber is an Italian luger and coach who competed from 1985 to 2010. Together with Kurt Brugger, he won the men's doubles event at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. He competed in both doubles and singles, but enjoyed his greatest success in doubles in partnership with Brugger. He made his debut in the Luge World Cup in 1986-87 season. He also took two medals at the World Junior Championships in Olang in 1988, a silver and a bronze. He competed in six Winter Olympics, in 1988, 1992, 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2006: he was aiming to compete at the 2010 Winter Olympics, however he was not selected by the Italian team's head coach Walter Plaikner, and retired at the end of the season.
The FIL World Luge Championships, part of the International Luge Federation (FIL) have taken place on an almost annual basis in non-Winter Olympics years since 1955. The FIL European Luge Championships, part of the International Luge Federation (FIL) have taken place since 1914. From 1914 to 1934, these championships were part of the Internationaler Schlittensportsverband. From 1935 to 1956, the championships were held under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing. Since 1962, the event has been under the auspices of the FIL and has been held in even-numbered years since 1980. Since 2012, it is held annually within a preselected World Cup stages in the so-called race-in-race mode. The results of non-European athletes at these World Cup stages are not counted for European Championships standings.
Markus Schmidt is an Austrian luger who competed between 1987 and 1997. Competing in two Winter Olympics, he earned a bronze medal in the men's singles event at Albertville in 1992.
Johannes Schettel is a West German luger who competed in the late 1980s. He won the bronze medal in the men's singles event at the 1989 FIL World Luge Championships in Winterberg, West Germany.
Gerhard Gleirscher is an Austrian luger who competed from 1990 to 2000. He won a complete set of medals at the FIL World Luge Championships with a gold in mixed team (1997), a silver in mixed team (1991) and a bronze in men's singles (1997).
Felix Loch is a German luger and Olympic champion. He has been competing since 1995 and on the German national team since 2006. He has won fourteen medals at the FIL World Luge Championships with twelve golds and two silvers. Loch's men's singles win in 2008 made him the youngest world champion ever at 18 years old. He is the youngest Olympic Gold Medalist in men's luge history. As of 2022, Loch is a triple Olympic gold medalist.
Johannes Ludwig is an Olympic gold medal-winning German luger who has competed since 1996. He won a bronze medal in the Team relay event at the FIL European Luge Championships 2010 in Sigulda. At the 2018 Winter Olympics, held in Pyeongchang, South Korea, Ludwig won the bronze medal in the men's singles luge and the gold in the team relay luge, along with his teammates Natalie Geisenberger, Tobias Wendl, and Tobias Arlt. Then at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, he won the gold medal in the Men's singles race.
Wolfgang Kindl is an Austrian world champion luger who has competed since 2007.
Roman Alexandrovich Repilov is a Russian luger.
David Gleirscher is an Austrian luger. He competed for Austria in the 2015–16 Luge World Cup in the men's singles and finished tenth in the points standings. In men's luge at the 2018 Winter Olympics he became a surprise champion after the favorite, Felix Loch, made a mistake in the last run and dropped out of the medals. Before the Olympic win, Gleirscher did not have a single World Cup podium appearance.

Anna Berreiter is a German luger. She is the 2023 World and European Champion and silver medallist at the 2022 Winter Olympics. A two-time Under-23 World Champion, Berreiter was also part of the German squad that took the World team relay title in 2023 and has won further 1 silver and 1 bronze medals in sprint discipline at the World Championships level. She is the youngest woman to win a Luge World Cup race, and so far, has won 5 individual races in her World Cup career.
Cheyenne Rosenthal is a German luger. She is the 2019 Junior World champion, 2018 Junior European champion and the overall winner of the 2017/18 Junior World Cup. She made her Luge World Cup debut in 2019/20 season, and reached her first World Cup podium at the sprint race in Whistler Sliding Centre by finishing in third-place.
Max Langenhan is a German luger who competes for the BRC 05 Friedrichroda club and German national team.
Zachary DiGregorio is an American luger. He competed in the doubles event and in the team relay event at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Jessica Doreen Degenhardt is a German luger. She is four-time Junior World Champion and won gold medal at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics at doubles' race and silver medal at the individual race. She also retains the World Championships gold medal at 2022, 2023 in women's doubles discipline and Women's doubles' sprint discipline in 2023.
Merle Fräbel is a German luger. She is the Under-23 World Champion, and Winter Youth Olympics champion in luge singles discipline.
