Nico Parker (born 9 December 2004) is an English actress. She made her film debut as Milly Farrier in the Walt Disney Pictures film Dumbo (2019), directed by Tim Burton. [1] She played Sarah Miller in the first season of the HBO series The Last of Us (2023).

Early life

Born at home to film director and screenwriter Ol Parker and actress Thandiwe Newton, Parker is from Kensal Rise, North West London. She has an older sister, Ripley, and a younger brother, Booker. [3]

Career

2019-2021: Breakthrough

Parker made her film debut as Milly Farrier in the 2019 film Dumbo , directed by Tim Burton. The role brought her widespread recognition. [4] [5] She next starred alongside Naomie Harris and Jude Law in the HBO miniseries The Third Day (2020) [6] and appeared alongside her mother as Zoe in the science fiction film Reminiscence (2021). [7] [8]

2023: Wide recognition

Parker made a guest appearance as Sarah Miller in the first episode of the HBO adaptation of The Last of Us . [9] Parker's guest appearance was universally acclaimed by critics, with the consensus being that the premiere "benefits immeasurably from [her] endearing contribution." [10] Rachel Leishman in a review for The Mary Sue called Parker's casting "brilliant" and said: "It’s such a good performance from Parker that matches the energy of Pascal's Joel in a way that I think many are going to be talking about Nico Parker's take on the character." [11] Parker was named a 2023 Bright Young Thing by Tatler . [12]

In May 2023, Parker was cast to portray Astrid Hofferson in the live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon . [13]

In 2024, she appeared in Suncoast . [14] [15] [16] She won Breakthrough Performance Award at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. [17]

The Last of Us is an American post-apocalyptic drama television series created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann for HBO. Based on the video game franchise developed by Naughty Dog, the series is set twenty years into a pandemic caused by a mass fungal infection, which causes its hosts to transform into zombie-like creatures and collapses society. The first season, based on the 2013 game, follows Joel, a smuggler tasked with escorting the immune teenager Ellie across a post-apocalyptic United States. The second season is expected to adapt the 2020 sequel, partly following Abby.

Suncoast is a 2024 American coming-of-age drama film written and directed by Laura Chinn, in her feature directorial debut. It stars Laura Linney, Nico Parker and Woody Harrelson. The film's screenplay, written by Chinn and based on her life experience from the early 2000s, was included in the 2020 Black List.

Laura Chinn is an actress and writer for television. She wrote and directed the feature film Suncoast (2024). Chinn also starred in and created the Pop television series Florida Girls (2019-2019).
