Nico Pattyn (born on 26 October 1968, in Roeselare, Belgium) is one of Belgium's most successful quiz players. He became European Quizzing Champion in November 2007, claiming the title in Blackpool. He was the first to beat English quiz legend, Kevin Ashman at the European championships individuals. He also won an individual silver medal at the first European Quizzing Championships in 2004 in his hometown Ghent and in 2013 in Liverpool, behind his compatriot Ronny Swiggers.
In 2005 and 2006, Pattyn came in 3rd place on two occasions in the World Quizzing Championships. He has placed in the top twenty of the World Championships on every occasion. [1] Since 2007, countryman Ronny Swiggers has placed even higher than Pattyn ending 2nd in both 2008 and 2009 and 3rd in 2010.
He has captained the Belgian national team since 2003 when his team won the "England-Belgium interland" in Bromley, the precursor of the EQC. Pattyn has won three European titles in 2005, 2006 and 2008 and silver or bronze in all the seven other competitions with the national site. With his club "Café Den Hemel" he won the club competition in 2003, which was part of the "England-Belgium interland", and a European bronze medal in 2007. Together with his Café Den Hemel teammate Paul Arts, he also won bronze in the European pairs competition in 2005. In 2013, he also won the first edition of the Masters competition in a final against Pat Gibson. He was Flemish champion in 2008, 2011 and 2012.

Pattyn was raised in Langemark but now lives in Ghent. He works as a psychologist.

Kevin Clifford Ashman is an English quiz player. He is considered one of the greatest quizzers in the world, has been a professional quizzer since 2002 and he has appeared on Eggheads since 2003 and is the only Egghead to appear in every series of the show as of April 2023. He has won most of the top-level quiz tournaments in which he has taken part, among them several World and European Championships.
Andreas Thorkildsen is a retired Norwegian track and field athlete who competed in the javelin throw. He was the Olympic Champion in 2004 and 2008, European Champion in 2006 and 2010, and World Champion in 2009. He is the first male javelin thrower in history to simultaneously be European, World and Olympic Champion. He was also a three-time silver medalist at the World Championships, placing second in 2005, 2007 and 2011. His personal best of 91.59 m, set in 2006, is the Norwegian record.
The World Quizzing Championships is an individual quiz contest organised by the International Quizzing Association. The competition has been staged annually since 2003 with an increasing number of contestants from an increasing number of nations. Since 2006, the competition has been staged on the first Saturday of every June.
Stein Olav Bjortomt is an English international quiz player, four-time world champion and three-time individual European champion. He is the star player of the world's most successful quizzing clubs, Broken Hearts, with which he has won several European championships.
Patrick Sercu was a Belgian cyclist who was active on the road and track between 1961 and 1983. On track, he won the gold medal in the 1 km time trial at the 1964 Summer Olympics, as well as three world titles in the sprint in 1963, 1967 and 1969. On the road, he earned the green jersey in the 1974 Tour de France. Sercu is the record holder for the number of six-day track race victories, having won 88 events out of 223 starts between 1961 and 1983; several of these wins were with cycling great Eddy Merckx. He also won six stages at the Tour de France and eleven stages at the Giro d'Italia.
Patrick Gibson is an Irish quizzer based in the United Kingdom. On 24 April 2004, he became the fifth contestant to win the £1m jackpot on the quiz show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and the fourth legitimate contestant to do so. He is a multiple world champion in quizzing and one of the world's most successful quiz players. He is best known for winning several quiz shows and being a panellist on Eggheads. He was born, raised and educated in Ireland but currently lives in the United Kingdom and competes as part of the England quiz team. As of 5 December 2018, Gibson is currently the No. 1 ranked quizzer in the world.

Felix Gottwald is an Austrian Nordic combined athlete who competed from 1994 to 2007 and then returned to compete in 2009. He is 5 ft 10 in , weighing 150 lb(10 st 10 lb; 68 kg).
Yernar Saparbekovich Yerimbetov is a Kazakhstani artistic gymnast. He is the 2006 Asian Games vault bronze medalist and the 2003 Summer Universiade vault and parallel bars champion and all-around silver medalist. He represented Kazakhstan at the 2004 Summer Olympics, finishing 14th in the all-around and eighth in the parallel bars final.

Mark Bytheway was an England International Quiz player best known for becoming Quizzing World Champion in 2008 and winning the Top Brain competition of Brain of Britain.

Tom Trogh is a Belgian quiz player who has won several international titles with the national team of quizzing powerhouse Belgium. He has established himself as the third best player of his country behind Ronny Swiggers and Nico Pattyn. Like all Belgian stars he is an amateur, he works as an actuary in a life insurance company.
Erik Derycke is a Belgian quiz player best known for his success with the national team and his double gold at the European Quizzing Championships (EQC) 2007 with his partner Tom Trogh.

Organised by the International Quizzing Association and held from 3 to 6 November 2016, the 2016 Quiz Olympiad in Athens was the inaugural Quiz Olympiad. Replacing the annual European Quizzing Championships, the event was open to quizzers from all over the world, with representatives of 26 nations competing.
Organised by the International Quizzing Association and held from 11 to 14 November 2021, the 2021 Quiz Olympiad in Kraków was the second Quiz Olympiad. The event was planned to take place from 5 November 2020 until 8 November 2020, but was postponed a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
